Star Wars: Lost Tribe of the Sith #3: Paragon is the third short story installment of the Lost Tribe series by John Jackson Miller. The series follows a group of Sith in the time of Naga Sadow who crash-landed on the planet of Kesh.
Miller's strength has always been in his characters, whose attitudes and beliefs are seamlessly woven throughout the narration--beliefs that the reader may take to be fact. The result is a wonderful installment-ending twist that will leave you wanting for more. A must-read for any Star Wars fan.

In the latest Star War series, Fate of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker and team battle a whole civilization of Sith whose ancestors were marooned on the planet Kesh 5000 years earlier. Star Wars: Lost Tribe of the Sith tells the back-story of those who became separated from the rest of the Sith before the time of Darth Bane (the Sith Lord that instituted the "Rule of the Two").
This installment, Paragon, takes place 15 years after the a Sith ship crashes onto the planet Kesh. It's local inhabitants embrace the Sith as deity and the Sith take control of the planet. This short story ends with a surprising twist that gives us some clues that it's not going be be as easy as it seems to keep that control. I find the characters well fleshed-out and the idea of an entire Sith culture fascinating. Each story in the Lost Tribe of the Sith precedes a new installment in the "Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi" series and ends with a preview of the next book, this time it is "Backlash" by Aaron Allston due to come out next month. I have to say that although I have been following both series I am enjoying Lost Tribe more than the full Fate of the Jedi stories. It could be because the characters are new to me and the concept is unique, or it could be that they are better written and more creative (and, let's be honest, free). Either way I'm really looking forward to the next one!

This is a pretty interesting Star Wars short story that took a little bit of time to get into it. When I did finally get into it, it was just about over with. Then when I go to the other short stories that are suppose to be in chronological order, while they are about the same subject with the same people, they do not follow the same story. Each one started a completely new story, I wish it would go along with the story instead of jumping years at a time. Also half of the book that you download is trying to get you to read an excerpt for a completely different star wars short story or novel. This can really get quite annoying. This is interesting to read and entertaining at some level, but try not to get attached to the story too much....

the third installment of 8 short stories about the lost tribe of sith living on Kesh. this time the betrayal and murder have been elevated to a new level worthy of the sith. but don't expect all of the Keshiri to remain complacent. another well written installment in this series.

In this episode, the Sith have take over Kesh and have mostly given up on ever leaving. It is the effort to fix the ship, however, that had them cooperating so well with each other. Now they are indulging their normal tendencies to fight one another and decide just who is the new boss of Kesh. As long as it isn't a Kesh local, of course. It's nice that the eugenics program is making the Sith so easy to look at, and a lot less red.

I knew when I got a Kindle that this would be one of the first downloads I got. I mean who could pass up a free Star Wars book. I found the story to be quite interesting but each book left me wanting more because they are so extremely short. The story jumps a bit in each book but it is still easy to follow and a fun and interesting story line. I would love to see this fleshed out a little more.
It's easy to get lost in this story for a while but you will soon find yourself moving on to another book. It would be a much better bundle of the Kindle version was packed in as one set to download all six books.

I wrote in my last review that I didn't think the story was very well put together and seemed rushed in places. Paragon gets us back on track with the pace of the first book, and incites us with a plot against the Sith by the Keshiri people who are native to the planet where the crash-landed Sith are stranded.
As I have stated before, I would almost rather see a full novel over these multiple short stories that are basically 1 big story broken down into 6 books (with more books on the way, as I understand it). I do like the story so far, but I am not sure why the author chose to break them up like this. Nevertheless, I will continue reading them, and after them, on to the Knight Errant and Darth Bane series.

I am kind of a Star Wars nerd, I've read at least 30 of the extended universe novels, so when I saw this short series for free on the Kindle store, I was naturally excited. The story was enough to keep me interested, different that what I was expecting, but still a very nice addition to the Star Wars universe. Having read them, I can honestly say I would pay to read them again!

With # 3, JJM starts fleshing out the history of the Sith tribe on Kesh even more, and make no mistake...they hold to the Sith characterization, but so much more. This books leaves you with a twist that had me going directly to number 4.
