The coolest X-Wing yet!, August 7, 2007

This review is from: Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter 6212 (Toy)
One can never have too many X-Wings. This Lego set is another excellent rendition of one of the Star Wars universe's best ships. It is bigger than the original X-Wing from 1999, and has a greater level of detail. Though it does not come with the other stuff like the 1999 set, it does come with many more Lego figures, including Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, R2-D2 and, for the first time, Wedge! This set also gives you the opportunity to change some of the ship's marking, so you can convert it from Luke's X-Wing to Wedge's X-Wing.
The ship is very sturdy, and the length is longer than expected. The wings move up and down via a turning dial in the back. This gives you more control of where you want the wings to sit, so you can pose it however you want. There is also a place to store the lightsaber and the cockpit is hinged so you can open it.
Overall, this is might be the best X-Wing yet. The 437 pieces will take a few hours at the most to build, but it is well worth it. It is a great Lego model, and even if you own earlier versions of the other X-Wings, this one should be a welcome addition to your collection.

This is the best set that LEGO ever made!!!
This X-wing is pretty big, plus you get Luke, Wedge, R2-D2, Han, Chewbacca, and Leia! A great deal! And this thing is very durable!
The landing gear makes it stand by itself! And Luke also comes with
a blue lightsaber!! A great set to add to any LEGO/Star Wars collection!!!!!!!!!!

Great set but don't be ripped off! This is one of the so called "hard to find" sets, which only means you can only buy them direct from Lego stores or website, or from Toys 'r' Us. This is a fifty dollar set, don't pay twice the price here!

This is a great model. My son and I put it together last night. A little tricky to get some of the parts right, not sure that the age is quite right on the box.
My favorite Lego set of all time....
Not sure why Amazon is pricing it so high. Its available on the LEGO site for much less than the $89 its currently listed for here. I guess they dont have a financial agreement with Lego.
Looking forward to the $500 Millenium Falcon, with two or three of the Xwings around it.....Ohhhhh....

What a great X-Wing model from Lego. Very nice design. Looks good at all angles. Fun to play with, a sturdy model and of course, the wings open to the X-Wing attack position!
PRO's - Design, opening hatch for cockpit, compartment for R2-D2, front retractable landing gear, alternate wing details to identify either Luke Skywalker or Wedge Antilles, hatch/compartment underneath to hold a lightsaber and any other hand weapon (I'd say you could hold 2-3 guns w/the lightsaber), hatch to the rear that opens to see a moving gear when you open and close the X-Wings...and finally the best 'pro' on this set...a wheel/gear in the back that cleaverly opens and closes the wings. Looks great in the X-Wing position. Also you get 5 mini-figures(Luke, Wedge, Leia, Han and Chewbacca).
CON's - Not much, but it would've been nice to have guns for all the mini-figures. Only weapon is Luke's lightsaber. Also, there are 4 small lights to the front of wings. They can fall off. Wish it had a tighter bond, but all the con's are small quibbles. This is a great model. An excellent addition to any Lego collection and lot's of fun to play with. Great for a 6 year old on up! Highly Recommended.
PLEASE NOTE: I've noticed overall on Amazon the prices for Lego models. Some are completely outrageous, while others are slightly above a fair price. I suggest especially to parents to go to the Lego dot com web site and you can find these models at the fair retail price. Also check eBay as well. Do some comparative shopping before you jump at the first Amazon price.
FINAL NOTE: On some of my reviews I'll state that certain Lego models are sturdy or great to play with. What I mean (again directed at parents too), is when you build Lego's, make sure while your building to double check the bond between the bricks. Press and squeeze so you see that the pieces are flush together. Do this throughout the build. It'll help with the bonding of the parts and also, while playing some separation can occur...again, double check, and tighten as you play. Finally, when playing see where there's good spots to hold the model in your child's hand so he can play and be assured it won't come apart easily. Look for a good hand hold and you'll have loads of fun with your kid without the frustration...:)

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter 6212 (Toy)
This Lego X-wing is so cool!! Wedge is my favorite Star Wars character, and I was blown out of the sky when Lego made him as a minifig! This X-wing Fighter as a gear on the back where you can twist to lock the S-foils! This set is a great deal! I got it at the Lego store for $50 bucks! This cool set comes with Wedge Antilles, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2,
and Luke Skywalker complete with a lightsaber! Please buy this cool
Lego set!!

Wings fall off easily once constructed, November 27, 2011
= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter 6212 (Toy)
My sons love playing with legos. They were super excited to get this Star Wars themed toy and had fun constructing it. However, since then, we are constantly coming to the rescue to re-attach the wings due to a weak design. Rubber bands put the connection points under stress and the slightest bobble causes the wings to come off. When re-attaching, you either have to do a re-build or carefully attach one piece while another section breaks off as you press the pieces together. A very frustrating and time consuming experience. My husband and I are now much faster at making the repairs and the x-wing remains very popular, but we are disappointed in this design feature.

My first LEGO set in years, February 27, 2011
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter 6212 (Toy)
I'll start off by saying that I'm a 33 year old Star Wars fanatic and recently saw some of the newest LEGO offerings when I went into a LEGO store a couple weeks back. I was amazed by all the different sets, and figured this was a good entry-level project that would tell me whether or not I wanted to move on to something bigger like the amazing Imperial Shuttle. I haven't touched a LEGO set in many, many years but thought it might be fun to build something and see how it went.
I was a little frustrated at first because it was tough finding some of the first pieces when they're mixed in with hundreds of others early into the build process. I can only imagine what the thousand piece sets are like. It's also a little frustrating because some of the pictures of the pieces are not the same as the actual pieces. They look very similar, but the actual pieces are slightly different and it makes you wonder sometimes if you're using the right piece. I want to also say that I didn't sort the pieces first either. I would definitely do that next time.
I finally settled into it and had a really fun time assembling it. It went up on the shelf after I finished it and looks great. I know a lot of people have complaints about the durability and the fact that it's not easily played with, but I can't really comment on that because I don't have kids and won't be flying it around the house myself.
I only paid $50 for it and have no complaints. It was a nice, affordable way to get back into building LEGOs and I'm really glad I started small. The model looks great and I would recommend it to anyone as a display piece or a starting point for building LEGO sets again.
