More About the Author

Hi Readers! Thanks for coming by my author page. I've written all sorts of books - from fantasy about animals to books about science. One of my favorite animal fantasy series, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, is a major motion picture. I liked writing about Ga'Hoole so much that I decided to revisit that world in a different series, Wolves of the Beyond. I've recently added a new Guardians book: The Rise of A Legend, the story of Ezylryb, the great sage of the Ga'Hoole Tree. Another new book just came out, the first in the Horses of the Dawn series. I think of it as an equine retelling of the Spanish conquest of the New World. Visit my website, www.kathrynlasky.com for the latest news. All my best, Kathryn

Amazing!!! Very descriptive and a truly intricate plot. Will there be another? Hopefully YES! I absolutely love Kathryn Lasky and I think she's one of the best authors ever.

I absolutely love Lasky's books, and I am (arguably) a grown woman. This one picks up where the last one left off, and young readers who read all of the Guardians books will get a special treat in this one (no spoilers, though - read the book!)

The thing I like best about these books is how intensely character-driven they are. All of the characters - even Faolin, who in the hands of a less capable author might have been idealized or Mary Sue'd to the point of caricature - change over the course of time, and their growth drives the drama, the suspense, and the plot. This is awesome, because it becomes an opportunity for the parents of kids who like the books to talk about the themes of the book (leadership, trust, self-doubt, stereotypes, religion, spirituality, dogma, differences) on whatever level a particular kid is ready to discuss AND relate it to personal growth.

Fast read for anyone over about 8 years old. Good vocabulary words through sixth grade. Subject matter can be experienced on many levels, making the book interesting for all ages. This is a good series for kids who already like the Erin Hunter and Brian Jacques books. One caveat is that the series raises some complicated social and religious questions. You may wish to discuss these issues with your child, especially if your viewpoint differs.

I've read the whole series over and over ever since I got them. It makes me want to cry when I know that this is the last book. You won't waste your money buying this book, or any other book in the series! Kathryn lasky makes an even better book than ever before!

I honestly think this series was one of Kathryn Lasky's masterpieces alongside with her Guardians of Ga'hoole, but after reading all of these books and I'm in the process of once again re-reading them and I still find them absolutely flawless, I stay up until late hours listening to the audiobooks of this series(Sadly one has not been released for this final book which saddens me) and it is a fun way to burn the hours away with this amazing series.

I think Kathryn Lasky did a wonderful job with this series and this book but I hope she eventually revists the beyonds and the wolves as I think that they need more screentime than they did, this is my alltime favorite book and I shall never forget this book series ever.

If you are deciding upon buying this book or the series, I greatly motivate you to, this book and the rest in the series are absolutely amazing.

I seriously thought that Heep and the outclanners would unite with Faolan, or something. BUT NO! He leads his outclanners accros the ice bridge practicaly KILLING THEM OFF (except Ragmore) BECAISE THEY CANT' SWIM! We could also blame Faolan and the other survivors because they pushed the outclanners into the water. He said "There can be no outcanners in the new world!" But dude, WHAT ABOUT RAGMORE! AND THOSE OUTCLANNERS COULD BE BETTER WOLVES IF YOU TREATED THEM BETTER! BUT YOU HAD TO DROWN THEM! But I still hate Heep. I don't like Caila because she's obsesed with her pup and Mharie and Dearlea, who deserve better then her. I don't like Edme because she's so pathetic and dusty and she is from the MacHeath clan and I really hope Faolan and Edme don't get together, and that Faolan gets the she-wolf he deserve's. This is crule, but, I wish Edme had died in the Pit in book three. Or could she have died in the place of Banja, because I love Banja and she had Maudie. I HATE Abban necause that stupid pup always bables about Old Tooth and has the posibility of being a narwal gyre soul. He's also Heep's son, but nobody seems unnerved by that? But Coryn was scorned for being Nyra's son, so basicly its like Brambleclaw/Tawnypelt. Brambleclaw looks like his evil father so he gets scorned all the time, but Tawnypelt dosen't, so she wasn't given a hard life. Abban should be scorned for being Heep's son, but the other wolves are goody two paws. Okay goodbye.

The journey of the pack from the Beyond meets an exiting close. The numerous twists in this books keeps you reading. Some parts may be graphic, but it is such an immersive read.
