Product Description

Product Description

The StarCraft series has induced countless sleepless gaming sessions for more than 3 million players around the globe. StarCraft 64 reproduces the immersing real-time strategy gameplay of the original, giving Nintendo 64 fans a new reason to stay up late.

In the 24th century, humans (known as Terrans) are in a survival-of-the-fittest battle against two alien races--Zergs and Protoss. Play as any of the three races, each with their own weapons, vehicles, and warfare personalities.

Success lies in the ability to juggle a variety of tasks in real time. One must mine precious minerals that are processed into warships, vehicles, weapons, and armor while harnessing energy from gas-spewing geysers. At the same time, players build and defend a base and army of various forces while scouting the landscape (which remains "masked" until a unit moves into the area) for new resources and imposing enemies. All of this action takes place as the player organizes small and grand-scale attacks. It's as hectic, tense, and addictive as it reads.

StarCraft 64 includes all of the missions from the original StarCraft and Brood Wars expansion pack, as well as all-new missions specially designed for this version--60 levels in all! Multiplayer support is included as well, so two players can battle in split-screen cooperative or versus matches. Sleep later... the Zerg are moving in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do yourself a favor, and buy the EXPANSION PAK, December 20, 1999
By A Customer
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: StarCraft 64 (Game Cartridge)
I have Starcraft for the PC and the most outstanding thing is the nice, crisp graphics. But when I played it for the N64, the graphics were blurry. Because I recentle purchased an EXPANSION PAK, I compared it with and without it. The graphics were way better with it, and it also allowed a two player mode, and BROOD WAR. So if you plan to buy it, just buy the EXPANSION PAK.

5.0 out of 5 stars strategy strikes back!, September 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: StarCraft 64 (Game Cartridge)
thank God for this game...after all the mad marketing of pokemon and first pirson shooters (with all due respect to classics like goldeneye which came out quite a while ago)i was beginning to think that blood, guts, and pikachu would be all my television screen would ever witness...but to people who appreciate the value of a good chess game, Starcraft 64 must seem like the messiah of strategy games...although it didn't receive nearly enough praise while in its making as it should have, Starcraft rules my list of favorite games...the only problem with this game i might have (although a minor one) is its graphics which dont seem to be much improved by the N64 expansion pak...but who ... cares really?...atari proved that [bad] graphics didnt necessarily mean [bad] games

5.0 out of 5 stars Starcraft is the best game, June 24, 2000

This review is from: StarCraft 64 (Game Cartridge)
Before I bought starcraft 64 I read that it wasn't as good as the computer version, for example it had low resolution, but that didn't stop me from buying it. The resolution is pretty good and it is very easy to see your units. You may think, how can you easily control your units without a keyboard and a mouse. But it is not hard at all. You can easily select groups of units of the same type just as you could in starcraft for the pc. The starcraft version for computer allowed you to select up to 12 units at a time, but starcraft 64 allows you to select up to 18!
