4.0 out of 5 stars Good overall telescope for the money., January 18, 2007

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: StarSeeker 130mm GoTo Reflector Telescope (Office Product)
The telescope was very easy to put together and functions very well. The one thing that I really did not like was that I ordered the scope as an XMas gift for someone in the family. Well, when the scope was delivered, it had ORION TELESCOPE stamped all over it. Needless to say, the person who it was intended for found the package laying next to the door before I had a chance to get home. I had even called Orion to confirm the exact day it was going to arrive and it got there 2 days earlier. Grrrrrr. The surprise was spoiled. So, note to Orion: "Save the senseless advertising and don't advertise to would-be-thieves and gift-recievers what's inside the box, OK?" Second of all, with it being winter, we tried looking at stars in 40F degree weather. The motors will not function in this cold of temperatures. I don't know what the functioning temperatures are and they are not publicised in the manual from what I can see, but 40F degrees isn't it. Anyway, those nit-picks aside, it really is a great telescope and we've had hours of enjoyment from it.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, December 11, 2006
This review is from: StarSeeker 130mm GoTo Reflector Telescope (Office Product)
Looks great and is alot lighter that I expected!
Very easy to put together. Shipping was a little rough with the package as it didn't have "Fragile" written all over it! (What WOULD need it if not a telescope?) Because of the rough treatment, it needed to be culminated out of the box. Not a hard task and is good to know anyways.
As this is an Xmas present, I couldn't really "break it out" but I did manage to sneak a peak at the moon before wrapping it up! WOW! Can't wait to spend a few hours a week outside with my boys!
I suggest getting the accessorie package of the extra lenses and filters from celestron. It will give you more bang for your buck and they're high quality lenses!
