I was looking for a firewire card for my PC running Linux. Most were over [$$]and included +5 ports plus editing software. I only wanted the card for a[certain computer]. This card is what i was looking for- Straight-forward PCI card that works

The card worked right out of the box. The one-page instructions were missing some essential information that I had to retrieve from their website. There is no software included (Windows CD is required)

Great to download videos to my computer,

My older Sony camcorder needed a firewire connection to download videos to my computer, but my computer did have one. I bought this adapter card and used it to replace something else on my computer that I never used (I'm not enough of a computer geek to know what it was, but the swap was pretty easy). It worked great with no issues. Windows XP recognized it, accepted it and I began downloading videos right away.
