Had to laugh when the phone tech contacted me about the computer running the office phone system.

Seems he knew the ins and outs of the software running on an early 90s vintage Comdial that manages our voicemail, but he had *no* clue what those "brown slots" were.

The onboard serial port had cratered after a decade plus and the only offerings to be had at local stores for a serial card were PCIe, which he'd bought, tried and of course had had no luck with.

Amazon, StarTech and grey haired IT guy to the rescue.
