I bought this enclosure with a Western Digital 1 TB Caviar Green SATA drive. The aluminum case is well made and the drive fit well into the brackets. There are no internal cables, the drive plugs directly onto the circuit board in the case. Everything went together in about 5 minutes and worked fine. With this drive the unit is extremely quiet and runs very cool. The supplied USB cable is fairly short, only about 4 feet long. This is a nice unit.

Very poor construction. Front is attached to hard-drive and when hard-drive is inserted into enclosure, it becomes impossible to either insert the hard-drive in all the way or to remove the hard-drive without damage to the product. No details how to address this issue were enclosed.

This is a great way to re-use an internal hard drive from a "dead" computer. Just hook up the cables and pop it in and you have a portable back-up drive for all your pc's.

I searched for a long time to find an inexpensive external SATA drive enclosure and ended up getting this one. I am using a 1TB Western Digital RE3 drive as a Time Machine backup for my Mac Pro. Installation was easy and it has a nice green glow for the power/activity LEDs. One thing to note about the LED lights, there are two of them, one on the top and bottom of the front side. Instead of one being the "Power LED" and the other being an "Activity LED" they both blink when the drive is active and stay lit when the drive is turned on. It does get hot as there is no fan, the drive sits snug inside the case so all of the heat is transferred to the enclosure itself. I would recommend leaving it standing up as to have the two larger sides exposed to the air to keep it cool rather than having one side flat on the desk. The enclosure itself is silent so the only sound you will hear is the drive spinning up or when you are reading/writing. Very happy with this enclosure.

It took me a while to choose from the wide range of available harddrive exclosures.
I was looking for a cheap solution to make use of an 3.5 drive, but made well enough to satisfy and last.
I ended up asking the IT guy who just happened to have ordered this product for the company.
I did too and I am really happy with the looks, quality and funcionality of the product.

This was the cheapest unit that had the functionality that I wanted. I received it and it really seemed like junk so I returned it and spent $10 more on a solid product.
