This is a sturdy, well-built 6 to 4 Firewire (IEEE1394/i.Link) cable. If you have a need to hook a 4 pin device to a 6 pin device, this is exactly what you're looking for, no adapters needed.
I had been looking for a 6 to 4 cable for some time, and was somewhat price sensitive (knowing that they're cheap to make), and this fit the bill.

I needed a Firewire cable to connect my digital camcorder to my Mac. Macs don't seem to play nicely with USB comcorders. My camcorder supports both interfaces, but I needed to use the Firewire interface with the software on my Mac. I plugged the cable into the camcorder and the Mac, and all was fine.
