This review is from: StarTech.com 8-Inch EPS 8-Pin Power Extension Cable (EPS8EXT) (Personal Computers)
If you build computers, or custom gaming rigs, you may have encountered the occasional problem of the CPU 8Pin Power connector coming up "Short". In my case, the PSU was at the bottom of the case, and the CPU power input connector was at the very top of the board, at the top of the case. I had to literally strectch the connector to its limit to connect it, which worried me a little bit, since it seemed to tug on the CPU input connector.
I began searching everywhere for an extension adapter. I live in a large city, and to my surprise, I could not find "Anyone" with a connector that could be used, or even modified to be used as an extension! After endless searching, I came across this adapter on Amazon. Turns out "StarTech" is the only manufacturer that I found that has one. I got the package very quickly, via UPS Express mail standard shipping. The connector is a good quality connector and looks exactly like the picture shown here. It does not have any sleeve or shrinkwrap insulation at all. Although, i found this to be hardly worth complaining about. The 8 inch extension cable game me more than enough cable to safely "meander" around all my components. Pros: - Does what it advertises - Good quality - Works just as I expected - Connector was a perfect fit Cons: - No sleeve or shrinkwrap (hardly a complaint though) Summary: For this cheap price, this connector is worth having around if you build very large gaming rigs or custom computers. The added length will let you route the cable in virtually any manner or form. Regarding the "sleeveless" design, I solved that buy using a piece of black heat activated shrinkwrap. Definitely a recommended purchase!

My HAF X case only brought 1 extension cable for the 8pin atx CPU power, and my mother board (evga p67) accepts two; my psu also had two 8 pin atx cables. While it may be a little over kill since I was overclocking a sandy bridge, I wanted to have both cables plugged in. The cable without the extension would get stretched out by the side fan air duct. Now both cables are routed behind the motherboard and long out of sight.
Even though I plan to do extreme OCing, Sandy bridges don't require a lot of voltage as opposed to other architectures, so having two 8pin atx connected is truly negligible in my case. This may provide some stability to my OC'ing, but I have no evidence to support this claim, and I am making it based on gut feeling and previous OC'ing experience with only 1 8pin ATX cable juicing my processor. Someone mentioned this extension not being sleeved. A solution to that may be that these days many modular PSUs provide a substantial amount of cables that are sleeved, so if you have any around you could probably 'borrow' a piece and tie it onto your extension with cable ties if you will. Also if the cable is going to be passing through a cable management cutout in your case, chances are these are sleeved with rubber grommets (like in the HAF X) so... you don't really -need- a sleeved cable unless you're certain it'll come into contact with some hot PCB component. If that's the case, well, you're doing it wrong. [||||| TL;DR |||||] Good 8 pin atx extension, good for cable management. Get it.

The cable works just fine, it was able to extend the power cable on my psu so I could route the cable behind the motherboard tray instead of it being inside my case. I wish they would have sleeved the cable but other than that it is well designed.

This product works as advertised. Aside from that, this would be a better product if the cables were enclosed in a sleeve for protection and aesthetics, like other manufacturers' are.

This spanned the distance I needed to get to the top of my mobo from my power supply which is mounted at the bottom of my tower. Simple extension, but it works.

The PSU sits at the bottom of my Antec 900 case. So you either need one with longer cables, or this extension. StarTech is the only maker of this particular item, and it was just the right length for what I needed.
