5.0 out of 5 stars good card
This was the card I picked up when I received 25$ for signing up with Amazon Visa. So it was damn cheap to me. This card works great for my Toshiba 1905-s301 laptop, never had a single problem with Windows XP SP1. The best thing is this card is one of the very few PCMCIA based USB 2.0 card which offers three USB ports, wow...

3.0 out of 5 stars Tech Spec caution, May 18, 2004

The tech specs were not listed by Amazon. This card turns out to be a 32-bit pcmcia and will not fit a Toshiba Satellite pro 430 CDT with 16-bit slots (Type I, II, III). Also, turns out a 32-bit USB card won't work with 16-bits, according to StarTech.

Otherwise, would have been a good value.

Without a powere cable, you can not fully perform to all standards. Cable was implied, but not received. They have very poor customer service (by email only), and I eventually received a notice from them that "a cable is not provided with the product"; not even a suggestion as to where to obtain the power cable! You might want to investigate the ZUN2200 by Zonet if two ports are acceptable for your use.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great price but..., September 23, 2004

I ordered this cardbus after reading reviews and compared it with other products' reviews. It worked great on my Windows Me and installation was easy. But, there is an indication in the manual that you need power adaptor to optimise its performance and ADAPTOR IS NOT INCLUDED. I should have bought the Adronics Cardbus which included the adaptor. Although for webcam, mouse or keyboard, the extra power supply seems unnecessary, for external DVD and movie writter which I plan to buy, it seems utmost important. So I give it a 3 star.

Update on November 13th, 2004:-
First issue with my card. I was trying to connect my USB 2.0 external enclosure through the hub and it could not supply the necessary power for the drive. So I am out of luck unless I can found one of the power adaptor that can give that extra juice to this card. Man should've buy a better card at that time. Also, being a three port card, it has the USB slots assembled vertically. This makes it practically impossible for me to acces my speaker/mic output ports and one of the PCMCIA slot seated just above it. Poor design.

I've been using this card for 2 months with no problems so far. I'm giving it 4 stars because it's too early for me to vouch for longevity, and because it seems to be built a bit cheaply. However, the price was cheap when compared to similar products, so guess I can't really complain.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Design, and Wrong spec, Stay away from it, Please., October 21, 2005
This review is from: StarTech.com CBUSB2 3-Port Ultra Fast USB 2.0 Serial Adapter (Personal Computers)
I went to the company's web site, reviewed their specs carefully, unfortunately did not read all available reviews before making the order.

Now, if the card actually works or not, I don't know. It would not even fit - go all the way in. The port at the and of the card stops the card from being fully inserted. It sticks out about an 8th or 16th of an inch from being all the way in in my Toshiba Tecra 9100.

I was blinded by the price and bought something made from a company I've never heard about, a product that doesn't even comply to the product specification, waited a weak to get it, and now I'm looking for another one because I'm returning this one.

Stay away from it. Please.
