This works for me. I bought four of them, hoping to save on shipping (not, they charge $3 each for shipping) and was worried that the sound would not work. Well everything is great. They arrived within a few days of the order. Audio comes thru the adapter into the TV just fine. Here's my setup - Dell E6400 Laptop with Windows 7 64 bit with whatever IE comes with that.
I unplugged my $6.00 HDMI cable from [...] (another fantastic deal - I have two and will buy more) from my Roku (great thing to have if you have Netflix and don't have a laptop with HDMI) which is plugged into my 50" Panisonic Viera Plasma, stuck that into this adapter and then into the laptop and then watched last weeks's Fringe on Hulu with no problems. I did absolutely nothing but plug it in. Computer problems I don't like because I work in I.T. and don't take computer problems home. This product is highly recommended!!

Update - as another poster said - "....I bought this adapter with BargainCell. It was supposed to be a StarTech brand. However, the actual adapter I received was another brand. .... BTW, the other brand adapter works." The other brand that I recieved from Bargincell looks like the one pictured as a "premium" adapter from another Amazon seller. No guarantee what you will get, but sounds like they both work.

This port connected right into the display port on my laptop and then I was able to utilzie a 10' hdmi cable and plug it into my 42" tv. My laptop configured easily and took up the whole display and now I can watch Hulu, netflix on demand, and other dvd's right off my computer. It is especially sweet for mlb.tv.

Well I purchased this adapter to see if I could get my laptop to connect with my TV. I was using DVI to HDMI, which works but there's no audio. This DisplayPort to HDMI is supposed to output audio and video.

I found out that Lenovo included the DisplayPort but not the functionality. It outputs video (haven't gotten that to work yet) but no audio so it's basically a DVI. Now this device is sitting on the shelf gathering dust. I own a Lenovo W700.

I ordered this item late Saturday and today I was suprised and delighted to find it in my mail box. Less than 3 day turnaround time, over the weekend no less. The Dell Display port male to HDMI Female adapter was exactly as described. Plugged it into my Dell E6500 Display Port then plugged in an HDMI cable to the adaptor and then my brand new Acer H233H widescreen monitor and now I get 1920x1080 res.

Best $9.90 (including shipping) I've spent all year. Thank you,[...]. I'll be back.

I bought this so I can use my third monitor for eyefinity. This thing DOES work when not using more than two monitors, but whenever I tried to enable third monitor, it want me to disable other monitor. This adapter is good when not used for third monitor or eyefinity.

By the way, I'm using this with 1920x1080 monitor.

Bought through our Admin at work for AV presentations. This product is the same as the "Display Port to HDMI Converter with Audio Adapter" also offered on Amazon for 1/4 the price. The item received is not what is pictured on Amazon's website.

Suffering from cheap construction and sub-par materials, this adapter is prone to splitting at the DisplayPort plug with vertical force applied to the end of the adapter. This wouldn't be an issue for a monitor or non-mobile product, however, our Dell laptops have the DisplayPort port in the rear of the laptop. If the user slightly lifts the front edge of the laptop with the adapter protruding from the rear of the laptop the adapter will split.

If your application is static this will fit the bill but can be purchased for quarter the price. If you're using this for mobile applications I would not recommend this product.

I received a Dell Latitude laptop from my company and was disappointed that it did not have a HDMI port. What it had was a "Display Port". Well... I had never seen this connection and luckily they make this adapter that works perfectly.

Works perfectly at a great price, but the item pictured is not what I purchased. My adapter is a DisplayPort to HDMI CABLE. The item pictured by Amazon, for some strange reason, is a PCMCIA card.

Leave it to Dell to saddle me with yet another useless item that I didn't know I was getting. After hours of research I finally figured it all out. Luckily, my TV had multiple HDMI ports. I ordered a 15' HDMI cord, along with this adapter, and kept my fingers crossed. Both items arrived quickly and work like a charm. Thanks for making this available to all us suckers out there!

I got this adapter to display video from my laptop to my televsion (including audio). I hooked it up to my 9 ft HDMI cable and plugged in to the back of my TV an voila, there was audio and video. From reading some reviews I had concerns that the audio may not come through from Dell's DisplayPort but everything worked great.

Laptop was a Dell Latitude 6400.
