4.0 out of 5 stars great value
Just one thing to note, this fan moves some air! If you want something to keep your case cool, try this out. It fits in any pci slot even in tight spaces, but is best used under your video card.

3.0 out of 5 stars A cool case is a happy case
While this isn't the ultimate "tornado generating" cooler, it isn't bad at all. If you want a plug and pray option, then this fella is in the running.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fan Modem problem, January 11, 2003

The slot fan works great.
But you must keep the slot fan 1 slot space away from modem card.
Electric interference from fan motor can cut modem speed in half.
My modem went from 48.0 to 28.8 when fan was on top of modem card. Once it was moved 1 slot up modem speed returned to 48.
Excellent airflow and very quiet . Would recommond to every one.

1.0 out of 5 stars This fan will damage your computer, November 13, 2003

This fan seems like a good idea, but it's design causes it to become clogged with dust. After a few months, the fan won't be able to turn, and it will generate lots of heat, damaging cards near it. The fan housing actually started to melt before I took it out. This happened with 2 fans of this design. Better to go with a simpler fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars This is loud, May 31, 2011

This fan moves air very well. This unit is also very loud. It was louder than tri-cool 120mm and 92mm blue fans. I ended up removing power from the unit because it was louder than the other 5 fans in my case combined. If you NEED cooling then this will help to get front to rear airflow added to your case. If you have other case options then I suggest using them first.

For graphic card overheating issues you should add internal fans in the case to move the hot air away from the graphic card.

This can be done by adding a fan to push extra air across the cooling fans of the graphic card. Using the "pull" system of this rear exhaust fan to take away hot air from the card is very inefficient. First task is to cool the card then the second task is to remove the hot air. This fan will remove the hot air from the case. Try using a dual 70mm card slot fan or a fan pointed at the graphics card to push air into your graphic card. I used the vantec card for that purpose.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good Idea, Poor implementation, April 25, 2011
This review is from: StarTech.com Expansion Slot Rear Exhaust Cooling Fan with LP4 Connector FANCASE (Black) (Personal Computers)
I must agree with the guy who had the over heating issue. I bough this card as a preventative measure and it ended up causing more of a problem which eventually cooked my video card. I have a Cooler Master 1000 case with 5 120mm fans. I was running a 9800gx2 in the system. Mind you, my system runs cool. The only reason I bought this product is because it seems like a good idea at the time. I was walking out of my favorite electronics store and I saw it on the shelf. I thought to my self "Cool, can't have too much cooling!" plus it was super cheap. Oh how I regret that day. This product collects huge amounts of dust. Its like the motor has a charge the just pulls in the junk. And the the design has no filter. So in most set ups the fan shroud's opening will face upwards like a cup and it just fills up with dust. It is super loud to start, but who cares when you're playing you favorite fps or jamming some tunes while coding websites right? Mine began to make a high pitched whine. Even after cleaning. What actually occurred was this thing heated up so much that the shape of the fan changed. Then I realized that this thing was actually creating most of the heat it was pushing out. The 9800gx2 that it was sitting next to all of a sudden started having issues. Normally core temps would never get past 75-80c. Even on a system stresser like Crysis. But now it was running at 98-101c under load and 75 at idle. And just this weekend, I'm playing a quick game of FEAR Combat (old game, low stress on card) my just of out warranty 9800gx2 cooks it self. So this low cost product cost me my video card investment, a weekend of billable hours and is putting my system on the rack until I can afford a new (500 range) card. Thanks to so much! high end system owner, please trust me, and make a better choice then I did on this product.
