It just works,

I have an old Dell ergonomic (split) keyboard that I really like, that still works great, but has a PS2 plug. I have a new Dell Optiplex 300 that only has USB outlets - no PS2. This is the perfect solution - plug and play. It just works. I was a little concerned after reading some reviews for similar products, especially after reading the mixed reviews for Cables Unlimited ADP-5210, for example. After reading another review for another product, I found this, ordered it, and am very satisfied. Highly recommended. In fact, I'm typing out this review with the keyboard connected through the adapter right now!

This adapter works great, no problems! This adapter (which actually changes the PS/2 signals to USB signals) worked whereas a previous product that I tried, which was merely a plug-converter, did not work.

What a handy little doo-hickey this thing turned out to be. I've got a 5 year old keyboard, which I dearly love, hooked up to my new laptop. There's also a plug for a mouse if you want to hook up a non-USB mouse as well. (The key style on the laptop is not really conducive to doing a lot of typing as I have long fingernails, so it's easier for me to use my old keyboard and not make so many typos).I didn't want to have to buy a new USB keyboard so using this plug has avoided having that extra cost. And when I want to use the keyboard on the desktop again, all I have to do is unplug the USB end of the dongle and plug it into a USB port on the desktop. No problem with the hookup - it works right out of the box. The plug ends are not color-coded (ie: purple=keyboard) but there's a small hard-to-see icon on each plug end showing a mouse or a keyboard. Just for the heck of it, I also tried it out on a mouse and keyboard I still have from one of our really old comps running Windows 98 - again no problem with that mouse or keyboard either. Great way to get use out of legacy peripherals and avoid having lots of old stuff around that can't be used anymore because everything is USB now. I'm really glad I bought this.
