1.0 out of 5 stars Worked some of the times, for a while, April 26, 2009

This review is from: StarTech.com ST122HDMI 2 Port HDMI Video Splitter and Signal Amplifier (Electronics)
I bought this when it first became available, as it was one of the very few options available. I was using it to distribute my dish satellite receiver's hdmi output to 2 TV's. It never quite worked correctly; among other quirks, you had to turn it on *after* the receiver and TV's were on, and you sometimes had to power cycle it multiple times to get the TV's to "sync" up. I'd skip this and look for something else. I'm currently doing just that.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed Results: Didn't work with my Vizio, January 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: StarTech.com ST122HDMI 2 Port HDMI Video Splitter and Signal Amplifier (Electronics)
I purchased this HDMI splitter/amp so that I could send the HDMI output from my satellite receiver to two TVs in different rooms. Long story short, it worked fine with my Panasonic LCD TV, but not with my Vizio LCD.

The Panasonic was at the end of 33' of HDMI cable, and worked flawlessly. The Vizio was only 6' away, and seemed to have some sort of conflict with the splitter. Every time I turned the Vizio off and back on, the splitter stopped providing a signal to whichever HDMI output was connected to it. I tried both outputs, I tried different cables - but the result was always the same. If I turned the Vizio off, I had to unplug the splitter to reset it before I could get a signal to the Vizio again.

I gave this item 3 stars because it worked perfectly with my other TV, so I'm guessing it's just a Vizio thing. Also, I did get a quick reply from StarTech's tech support when I emailed them about the problem. They were stumped, and actually suggested that I try a different product.

If you have a Vizio LCD TV, I'd stay away from this splitter. Otherwise, it's worth a try for the price. For what it's worth, I ended up buying an Octava splitter/amplifier. It's a little more expensive, but it works flawlessly with both of my TVs.
