About the Author

Michele is a recovering demon (AKA attorney) who left the legal field to follow her dreams of writing and teaching college-level English. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling as far as her credit card will take her, reading an assortment of fantasy and paranormal, and playing with her frisky animals (two black cats and two loud-mouthed cockatiels). She’s loved vampires since she was four, when her BFF confided that her older sister was a vamp who enjoyed drinking blood. Like any four-year old, Michele thought this was the most awesome thing ever. Michele currently lives in Modesto, California, but will move to Santa Barbara to begin a Ph.D. program in education and literacy this fall.

Starfire is a passionate story of forbidden love, hope, and finding the strength to do what is right. Julia is destined to kill vampires. Julia hates her destiny. Being a Reaver has been instilled in her since she was old enough to understand what it meant. Vampire's bad, blah, blah. Julia does not believe that all Vampires are bad. Just like humans there are good and bad, and some that find themselves straddling the fence.

When Julia meets Clay there is an instant connection between them. Talk about your forbidden romance thought. Reaver and Vampire-really not suppose to fall in love. Despite all the hatred that they have been taught to have for one another, they fall for each other anyway.

Julia is such a strong character. She stands up to her father, goes after what she wants, and fights for what she believes in. Clay is sexy, fierce, and passionate. Together they make a good team, and the passion between them is full of heat! From the very start this story takes the reader on a fantastic journey. The unique twist on the vampire myth, the remaking of the vampire hunters, and the infusion of magic make this an exciting and edgy tale for of suspense, romance, and daring!

Lines will be drawn. Sides will be chosen. Love will be tested, and family's will be broken. Which side will you choose?

Julia loves to drink and bend the rules, she didn't choose to be a Reaver. On the night when Reavers and Lumince's were supposed to sign a treaty, others had a different plan. It was there that Julia watched Clay from across the room. Clay is a Luminace and she is a Reaver, it is considered inappropriate, disgusting, and illegal for the two to get together. After a massacre was caused at the place of treaty, mock fare was reinstated. Mock fare is allowing the random testing and killing of a Luminces on what the Reaver deems appropriate at the time. Julia isnt interested in fighting the Luminece because she has fallen for one. As Clay and Julia continue a forbidden affair her father, Chief of Reavers, try to slaughter the Lumineces. Julia, Clay and others feel that this war has gone on long enough and must learn to fight back to restore peace between the two worlds.

At first when I came across this book it took awhile to get into. I actually stopped reading, went to other books and came back to this one to start over. Apparently I stopped too soon because after I got over that little bump keeping me from getting interested I just couldn't put the book down. Packed with lots of twists and turns. This book was unpredictable which made the book more interesting. I loved the back stories of the characters pasts. I loved how well developed the characters were. I loved that there was more than one point of view. Loved the unique name for the vampires: Lumineces, and the vampire Hunters: Reavers. I loved that there was also a back story of how the Lumineces and Reavers came to be which made the story all the better making this book unique and stand out from the rest. I loved the ideas of the stars being put into it.

I always love books that involve a romance between a Vampire (Clay) and someone else. This is a great start to a series and I honestly look forward to reading the next book. The author keeps you so intrigued that you cant help but continue reading this page turner until the very end.
Julia is am amazing character just brimming with confidence and charm and she wins your heart over and leaves a lasting impression on you when you are done reading.
Michele describes the surroundings so well that you really feel you are there imersed in the story with the characters. Sexy Vampires and the Reavers who are suppose to hunt them, what is there not to like there?
The very first meeting between Julia and Clay is full of "Sparks". Great read I recommend it.

Iloved this story. I loved the characters, but most of all I loved the natural atmosphere that is created within the world.
Michele zugnoni has made a wonderful world full of beauty and intrigue that sucked me right intot he story from page one.
I love natural charcters and confident and realistic dialogue, and that's what I got. Team that with a hearatwrenching, yet magical storyline and you have yourself an amazing story.

Full of everything that I like within the paranormal worlds, yet missing the 'same-same' storyline that a lot of books seem to have. The characters also varied. Even though you have the typcial 'star-crossed lovers' and 'the baddies' so to speak, they are so different from the standard these days.
One of my favourite characters is Julia. Fiesty, confident, but with a sweet shyness about her, she charmed her way into my heart. I truly kept thinking of Romeo and Juliet whenever she was on the page.
Loved this book, and can't wait to read more from her.
One of my new favourite paranormal writer.

This first book in a new series is fun and sexy. The 500+ pages move right along, and can be read in one sitting, as I did, or dawdled over in chapters and sections (at the beach, if you're one of the lucky ones). The author treats her characters with respect, so that the reader has the benefit of casual, believable dialogue exchange, and the chance to care about what happens next. Plot narration is written in a straightforward style that keeps the reader's interest by creating tension in the characters' lives as destinies shape their ends. A romantic adventure.
