More About the Author
I've concluded my long-running Kensington Aphrodisia erotic paranormal romance series, Wolf Tales (which includes the Sexy Beast anthologies I-VIII) and the erotic Dream Catchers series, as well as The DemonSlayers series from Kensington Zebra. The latest Chanku series, which began under the Aphrodisia imprint, is called Spirit Wild. It picks up on the lives of the second generation of Chanku shapeshifters, beginning with Lily Cheval's story in DARK WOLF.
Kensington chose not to continue with the stories, so I am publishing the stories independently with Beyond The Page Publishing, an assisted self-publishing company. My first book, Dark Spirit, released in early January 2014. The final Kensington title, Dark Moon, released January 28, and my latest indie offering, Dark Refuge, released May 12, 2014. I fully intend to write more of the stories--keep up with my progress via my website updates page at http://www.katedouglas.com/updates--projects.html
I've signed with St. Martin's Press to write a sexy contemporary romance series with just a bit of suspense. The first of these stories--the novella TANGLED in the HOT ALPHAS anthology with Lora Leigh, released in May 2015. The first two novels are INTIMATE, scheduled for a December 1, 2015 release, and REDEMPTION, coming out December 29. The third book, AWAKENED, should be out in summer 2016.
I am also writing an erotic paranormal werewolf series of shorter category length books for SMP. That series, FERAL PASSIONS, is set around the Feral Passions Resort, built and managed by a group of male werewolves trying to find mates. It's hard to choose a woman out there in the real world, so they sort of import them as guests of the resort. This one does have some humor, but there are also serious undertones dealing with self-esteem and exactly what makes a woman feel beautiful. The first story released in September 2015 in the CLAIMED BY THE MATE duet with AC Arthur. It will be out in print January 6, 2016, in an anthology called GROWL, with AC Arthur and Eve Langlais.

Selyn a Forgotten One daughter of a chained warrior woman was enslaved a thousand years ago by the Council of Nine at the end of that war. She and her sisters in arms prepare the rebellion against the Council of Nine. However, a guard viscously beats her to near death. Human veterinarian Dawson Buck saves her life. He heals her mind, soul and heart while she gives him a personal reason to live and fight on the Lemuria side of the portal.
Although the Demon King was defeated and exiled to the Abyss, the war continues to heat up with much of the action focused in Lemuria rather than on earth where the first two urban romantic fantasy Demonslayer thrillers (see Demonfire and Hellfire) occurred. Loaded with deadly action and sexual action, fans will appreciate this strong saga, but newcomers would be better off reading the first two entries to grasp the intricacies and nuances of the series as worlds of Kate Douglas are incredibly complex.

Starfire is the third full length novel in the Demonslayer series and it picks up where Crystal Dreams left off. Selyn is found near death in the caverns after she is brutally beaten by one of the guards. Roland, carrier of crystal gets her help in the form of a local vet in the Earth Dimension, Dawson Buck.
Dawson has been helping Alton, Ginny, Dax & Eddy in their fight against demons. He works tirelessly all night trying to save Selyn and with the help of Willow's healing magic, Selyn makes it through the night. Dawson is stunned at the intense feelings he has for Selyn, even though he just met her.
Selyn is a brave warrior but she is wary of men because they have never treated her kindly. She wants to trust Dawson but just doesn't know if she can. She has vowed revenge for all of the "forgotten" ones but revenge quickly turns into something else.
Together this small band will take on the entire Lemurian council and a world filled with demons. Will they be able to save both Lemuria and Earth from the demons? With the help of the "forgotten" ones and a leader that everyone thought was dead, they are going to try.
I loved everything about this book. The story flowed effortless and kept me entertained the whole time. The characters were interesting and complex that dealt with real life issues, along with a bunch of demons. I loved that the story of Dawson and Selyn was not overshadowed by the previous characters but enhanced by them. The reasoning behind the actions of Alton's father finally made sense after I read this book.
There was so much going on that it's hard to pick any single scene that was my favorite.Read more ›
While the romance is not as heated as I like it between the two main characters, their is a special connection that the two have that keeps the reader interested. I loved the angst and personalities of both and the story was great! At times, the plot can move a little slow within the book, but at most times it flowed nicely for me. While their are times I wanted to throttle some of the characters in the book, I always felt better when Dawson and Selyn were together. This book was refreshing in a way for the series in the fact that the main characters had emotional turmoil to balance out the action.
Even though I was a little disappointed in the little amount of heated scenes of romance, the emotional attachment between the two helped ease it. If you are a fan of the series, then I recommend adding this book to your pile! I loved the first book in the series, the second book was an okay read, but this book surpassed the others! A great new read from a masterful writer!
Quick & Dirty: A novel of adversity overcome, and of happiness found. Oh and there are some demons, and witches and magic swords in there too.
Opening Sentence: The steady drip, drip, drip and the soft hum of overtaxed air purifiers were the only sounds Selyn heard as she cautiously pushed herself away from the cavern wall and moved silently through the darkness to the sleeping quarters.
In the world of Lemuria, the battle against demon kind still rages there and on Earth, and our trusty band of supernatural demon killers is ever at the ready. This time the battle occurs in Lemuria itself, as one of the Lemurian leaders lets them in. You see, apparently for the last few millenia or so, the ruling body of Lemuria has been possessed by demons, and committing acts of treachery all over the place. The worst of which seems to be their many crimes against their females. Especially those warriors that once fought in the Demon Wars. These brave ladies were captured then forced into slavery in the crystal mines, several levels beneath where the light shines in Lemuria. They were then tortured and raped, each consequently becoming pregnant. Those who had sons were forced to give up their babies, those who bore daughters were forced to raise them as slaves, teach them how to work the mines, know that their children would forever be entombed like them. After raising their children to adult hood, each and every one of them chose to end their existence, leaving behind their daughters to toil in the mines. Their daughters still live in the mines to this day, and no one knows anything about them or their slavery, and they thus choose to call themselves, The Forgotten Ones.
Our heroine Selyn is one of these women.Read more ›
