Best of the series,
First of all, this is one of the best Military SF series around. Each book gives the reader a complete background on the characters and universe, yet doesn't seem overly repitious to those that have read previous installments.
However, if you read just one book from the series, read Steel Gauntlet. Its the best of the bunch and doesn't have quite so much character development as the rest of the series. Each character is thoroughly built and has a unique voice, though, but the writers seem to focus more on the action. |
