Better than the Milan release!,
This review is from: Stargate: The Deluxe Edition (Audio CD)
The Varese Deluxe Edition is a lot better than the Milan release. Not only has the sound quality improved but we have extra cues and the entire score is in film order. On the Milan release the cue "We Don't Want To Die" was placed after "Battle At The Pyramid" which was wrong.
For the Varese Edition we get a few extra cues.. Wild Abduction Translation Bomb Assembly The Eye Of Ra Execution The Kiss Against The Gods Transporter Horror Closing Credits Grant it's only 9 cues but it helps flush out the score more and the Closing Credits is a gem cue to have since it was never on the Milan release. If you're a fan of David Arnold, a fan of Stargate, and have the original Milan release, you got to pick up this CD. You will not regret it I promise!

David Arnold's First Musical Triumph,
By
This review is from: Stargate: The Deluxe Edition (Audio CD)
Many James Bond fans are presently anticipating David Arnold's score for "Casino Royale," indeed Arnold has settled into a comfortable postion as the heir to John Barry, and that is notable. But before Arnold embraced 007 musically he had already turned some heads with his epic score for Roland Emmerich's "Stargate" (1994). It has taken quite a while but Varese Sarabande has gotten round to a "Deluxe Edition" of Arnold's score which seems to come close to a full rendition of the music produced for the film, and it was well worth the wait and effort! Arnold's score for "Stargate" literally seemed to come out of nowhere, and it was suprisingly good. Arnold wrote a lengthy score that was rich in thematic elements, and proved to be one of the more laudable elements of the film. So much so that some of the themes found their way to the television incarnations over the last few years. This is the score that established Arnold as a serious new film composer, and this able presentation finally gives us something close to a full version. Shortly after "Stargate" Arnold wrote a very solid score for "Last of the Dogmen" and then gained broad recogniton with the best of his Bond scores for "Tommorow Never Dies." As prolific as Arnold has been lately it can be argued that he has yet to surpass some of his earlier works, but there are high expectations for "Casino Royale." "Stargate" remains a fan favorite and for many good reasons. It was a lavish production at a time when few other scores were written like this. Varese has done a solid job with production values, and presentation.

Perfect in every way!,
This review is from: Stargate: The Deluxe Edition (Audio CD)
This is an excellent score to Stargate, and the orchestra performs and sounds very good! This is, from what I can tell, the complete score, which I am also pleased with. Some of my favorite tracks are the overture, Slave Rebellion, Kasuf Returns, and the closing titles intro at the end of the soundtrack. Overall this is perfect in every way: sound, performance, melody, orchestration! A must-buy for every Stargate fan!

Great Score!,

This is an amazing score and I wish I would have gotten it sooner. I checked it out after watching the movie recently before I got into the tv series, realizing then that it had some amazing music. This Deluxe Edition is great too, it pretty much has all the music featured in the movie. Well worth the purchase for any soundtrack collector.

This soundtrack is filled with classic sounds that make the mood of this movie ever deeper. The main theme is orchestrated masterfully and is a treasure to be had. Anyone who likes mood-themed classical music will appreciate this soundtrack on its own or with reference in mind to the movie from which it comes.

The product is excellent when I buy came really fast, better than expected. The composer David Arnold has a majestic music in this soundtrack. He compose more movies like Independence Day, Stargate SG1 TV, The world is not enough (James Bond), Tomorrow never die (James Bond), Die another day (James Bond), Casino Royal (James Bond), Quantum Solace ( James Bond), and many more.

David Arnold has written a magnificent score. It is a thematically, lush score. It feels a cross between "Lawrence of Arabia" meets "The Mummy". I wish Arnold would do more film scores because he is a rare talent among the new crop of composers out there that can't seem to make any score thematically memorable. Arnold definitely can. His style is in the league of Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, Maurice Jarre, etc... Excellent score!

Really adds to the movie,

In Stargate: The Deluxe Edition, David Arnold does what a good soundtrack is supposed to do - add tension and excitement to the movie. To be honest, a movie about aliens in ancient Egypt could easily have descended into a sci-fi farce. The soundtrack makes the entire movie work. From the desert melodies to Ra's dark, powerful theme, the danger feels reel, and so does the plot. The Stargate: The Deluxe Edition only adds to the film score with more tracks and remastered quality.

I enjoyed this cd altho, if you haven't seen the show or tv series, some of the music is a little ponderous.
