This review is from: Stargate SG-1 - Seasons 1-9 (DVD)
But I watched every single episode of Stargate SG-1, seasons 1 to 9. You see the show from the beginning when the Stargate program is established to the outcome of the war with the Goa'uld and the introduction of a new adversary, the Ori.
Each season is presented in a 5 disk set contained in thinpaks. Each thinpak contains 2 DVDs which makes the storage of this 45 disk set much easier. Extras for each season vary - seasons 5,6,7 and 9 have commentaries on each episode, season 8 has commentaries on selected episodes. There are some behind the scenes documentaries, such as a walk through the prop department showing what's been used in different episodes. The best part is, owning this set means you can watch any season 1-9 episode any time you want!

4 1/2 stars. It rarely gets better than this.,

I wish I could choose 4 1/2 stars (9/10). Stargate SG-1 is a very, very good television series to collect on DVD. But the reason why not five stars is that SG-1 was on a smaller budget than Firefly, for which 5 stars is reserved. The smaller budget is likely the reason why SG-1 survived, as the longest-running North American science fiction television series of all time. 9 seasons, 5 DVDs each, which each season containing about 22 episodes. Do the math indeed, that's roughly one fresh, full hour-long episode for every other night for an ENTIRE YEAR!!
There are a few very stupid and very boring episodes in Stargate SG-1, but the better episodes make up for them by far. There is a significant amount of sci-fi mythology in SG-1, tying traditional world histery with alien ideas. And after a while you may grow tired of constantly being bombarded by the Goa'uld storyline, just when you are introduced with whole new stories about Replicators and the ultimate villian ever invented in sci-fi, the powerful Ori! Season 10 is due out on DVD in July 2007, from what I understand. Watch Seasons 1-9 now and if you can manage to watch two episodes every night you just might be able to get them watched within three months, just in time for Season 10 on DVD!! Season 10 (currently showing on Sci-Fi Channel) is the final season of the series. In Fall 2007, two finale movies will be released, one on the Goa'uld story and one on the Ori story. So start buying and watching!!

BEWARE PIRATED COPIES,
By
This review is from: Stargate SG-1 - Seasons 1-9 (DVD)
Stargate is great, the series is great, I've enjoyed it for years. However, Amazon is selling a boxed set of 45DVDs and 1CD as legitimate copies of seasons 1 through 9. They are in fact pirated copies and not licensed in any way. They are actually imported from China. As far as I can tell DVDS-DISCOUNTS, MONTZERMOVIES, and GIGAGRACE are selling the bootleg copies. The discs are mis-labeled, the quality is poor and varies from disc to disc, and they are NOT in individual boxes or slimpacks. All 46 discs are in a flimsy, papery, plastic sleeve bundle that is not even attached to the hardback cover and just loose inside the box which is another waste of space and shipping weight. If you are interested in the series speak to your seller before hand and get them to confirm that the discs you are buying are in slim packs or better.
