It's really addictive when I listen to this song, I can't stop listening, and I have to say again (like I did before<) it's all about Dio's voice! I started listening to Rainbow in the 80's, and that was my first time listening to Dio's voice, sorry but Rainbow without Dio wasn't the same, as Black Sabbath without Dio wasn't the same, and as Dio's disciples is not the same without him. It's all about Dio!

The late great "Jack of All Bands" Ronnie James Dio is at his best:

"According to the All Music Guide, Rising captured "Blackmore and Dio at the peak of their creative powers...(it) chronicled both the guitarist's neo-classical metal compositions at their most ambitious, and the singer's growing fixation with fantasy lyrical themes – a blueprint he would adopt for his entire career thereafter." [Ginsberg, Geoff. Album review at AllMusic. Retrieved 9 August 2011.]

"Stargazer" is a song that not only highlights the album but is the inspiration for the album cover's art by Ken Kelly. Back in 1976 when released album art was important as LP's were big... so to fully enjoy "Stargazer"; I would highly recommend the cover art on your screen... I could say more, but wouldn't want to spoil the effect!

However, I will say this song "Stargazer" and accompanying album cover helped direct the structure of my third book of my trilogy "The Outside". No; I have not been published nor have I sent in for publishing; but "Stargazer" and Ken Kelly's album art motivated me to title my trilogy's conclusion as: "The Rainbow of 2337".

If you enjoy hard rock with a philosophical bend; a fan of Deep Purple (do not forget Rainbow was Ritchie Blackmore's band) - you will LOVE this album.

Their best effort, in my opinion. If you only buy one Rainbow album make it Rising. This one shows the band at their peak.
