5.0 out of 5 stars On a Train
I think 'On a Train' is beautiful. They have the guts to play the same tune and lyrics looping for 16+ minutes. It's something you don't expect and I found it a joy to linger on the feeling they were trying to share. The melody in the background is bliss.

2.0 out of 5 stars Get a real TV on the Radio CD
Staring at the Sun is a really good song. I'm not going to debate that. It is, however, available on at least two other CD's of theirs that I've seen.

GET ONE OF THEM INSTEAD!

The other two songs on this CD are so strange that you can't listen to them earnestly. You can go ahead and preview them, but I can tell you that what you hear in the...

4.0 out of 5 stars A great piece, but not very necessary, November 10, 2008
This review is from: Staring at the Sun (Audio CD)
First of all, the title track is the LP edit, not 'Young Liars' full version (there is a long intro, which adds so much more atmosphere to the track), it's just a little odd that they didn't put the longer version on, but oh well.

The other two tracks aren't outtakes from 'Desperate Youth...', but are two pieces from the self-released 'OK Calculator'. Freeway is an odd song, a little vulgar, something that TvOTR must have made more for fun. On A Train, like another reviewer said, is an incredible track, lengthy, ambient, and experimental. Once you start listening, you really don't want to stop, it's just so pleasant.

While OK Calculator hasn't been offcially released minus a few tracks here and there (like 'ME-I' on the Adult Swim soundtrack), but you can easily just download all of OK C from limewire or wherever, which as you can see would be much less expensive. The single also has the video of Staring at the sun, which I think is so far the band's best video to date (not that they've had many, but still).

The other two songs on this CD are so strange that you can't listen to them earnestly. You can go ahead and preview them, but I can tell you that what you hear in the preview might as well be the entire song. Don't trick yourself. They don't go anywhere, they don't pick up, what you hear is all there is.
