I first listened to this story on the podcast and followed up with the book purchase. Very enjoyable story. I have most of Jake's other works as well and I enjoy his gritty, super-realistic characters and situations.

Rather than adding to the story the illustrations were a distraction to me. Maybe it was because I was reading on the kindle app on my tablet but the illustrations took me out of the story a bit. This is really strange for me since I read about 15 different comic books a week so I'm used to illustrations adding to a story but they didn't seem to wokr for me in this case.

I loved the story and where it seems to be going though.
