this is an incredible, stirring slab from the Cosmic Inferno line-up. a thunderous riff anchors the majority of the title track enthralling the listener to shake his or her acidic bones to the rythm of a hellish beat as Kawabata lays out seductive flame licked solos that harken back to a simplier time, when everyone knew the best music came from satan.

all cliche and pretension aside, i am a heavy listener when it comes to AMT(in any form)and i've heard some people complain about the amount of releases. the music is great, so it does make sense for them to keep putting it out there for us. but i do certainly understand that as much as we enjoy it, we can't always afford everything. so let me say this about "starless and bible black sabbath" if youre an AMT fan you want this, and if you've got the money burning a whole in your pocket..why not let these cats burn a whole in your brain.

This is some crazy stuff right here. Japanese psychadelic monsters Acid Mothers Temple have created another slab of thick riffage and crazy ambience. For fans of early Monster Magnet, Electric Wizard, and Boris, this is for you.

You pretty much have to take AMT +CI on their own uncompromising terms; this is not for the fainthearted alt-rocker or black t-shirted but too casual a listener, but neither is it some inaccessible piece of doom-metal or experimental thrash. They know the power of a good riff. This is a bit less harsh than Electric Heavyland, and may be a better point of entry for new listeners. It does, for the 34 minutes or so of the main tune, of course dawdle in Sabbath territory, but it does not get mired there.

AMT adds enough space in the densely mixed--my only drawback, a minor one, here: it's too sludgy a mix even considering this genre--grooves to prevent this from becoming airless. King Crimson? Well, that's where this added element of airiness mixed with the heaviness of the Black Sabbath influence comes in. At first this may sound monolithic, but repeated listenings reveal the variety that any AMT project revels in, thank the gods. The added six minute song is a bit more artier, and grating, but does not wear out its briefer stay.

A SLOW BUILD UP TO A MONSTER RIFF AND A KALEIDOSCOPE OF MUSIC, RIFF, VOCALS, RIFF, DRUMS, RIFF, GUITAR ALL SWIRLING AROUND BACK AND FORTH......EUPHORIA !!!! ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE CREATE 'MUSIC' WITH EACH RELEASE, "STARLESS AND BIBLE BLACK SABBATH" IS ANOTHER EXCELLENT JOURNEY, KAWABATA'S GUITAR IN THE TITLE CUT IS JUST PHENOMENAL.

DEFINITELY A HEADPHONE RELEASE (AS WITH ALL ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE SOUL COLLECTIVE RELEASES),

"WOMAN FROM A HELL" IS A SCORCHER, THE MELDING OF KAWABATA, HIGASHI, TABATA, SHIMURA AND OKANO ON THIS TRACK IS KILLER,

THEY WORK SEPARATELY TOGETHER AS ONE.

Wow! Yet, another killer Acid Mothers release. This CD pays tribute to two classic rock albums, being King Crimson's "Starless And Bible Black" and Black Sabbath's self-titled first album. Just two tracks here. Title cut "Starless And Bible Black Sabbath" (34:29) is pretty much your typical lengthy wall of menacing space-noise Japanese rock that so many of us have come to know and love. First eight minutes sound like Hawkwind having a bad hangover, following that, it tends to sound like Ozzy and Sabbath playing a jamming instrumental. Very nice! "A Woman From Hell" (6:14) is a good uptempo heavy metal / punk like tune, with decent vocals by bassist Tabato Mitsuru. Highly recommended. Fans of Monster Magnet, Kyuss, Electric Wizard and Blue Cheer just might find themselves wetting their knickers over this one.

While this release did nothing to change my overall opinion that these guys make frustratingly messy, overlong dirges, it is the most I have enjoyed an AMT release. This is mostly down to the first half of the title track, which has a fun riff and groove. It is almost ruined completely by the awful sound quality, but not quite. And before the song wanders off into boringland I found myself nodding along wondering why they can't always be this good. So that's about 10 minutes I've honestly liked from the hours of sludge I've braved through from these guys.

Psychedelic, trippy music that should appeal to me, yet never does.

This garbage is not music. I bought it thinking it would be a Black Sabbath tribute CD and was sadly dissapointed when I realized they simply stuck the Sabbath name in there to get some sales. The material is simply terrible, there is no rhythm, only a bunch of incoherence space sounds that any 2 year old could create. The band members probably got drugged up and started recording whatever crap came to mind. Don't waste your money with this, it's even worse than rap!
