Product Description

The Starrett 162C pin vise holds workpieces 0.050" to 0.125" in diameter, and has a nickel-plated handle and binding nut to provide durability and wear-resistance. The tapered collet provides maximum clamping surface. The vise has a 2" handle length, 1/4" handle diameter, and 3-13/16" overall length (with chuck closed). The body diameter is narrower than the chuck to enable fast opening and closing of the chuck and faster rotation when working on small workpieces.

The L.S. Starrett Company manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology and testing equipment, and saw blade products. The company, founded in 1880, is headquartered in Athol, MA.

As a trained machinist we use these a lot in the shop. But I purchased some to use at home for computer work. Sometimes when I'm desoldering let's say a power plug on a laptop. Sometimes you don't get all the solder out of the holes and if you put a small drill in one of these pin vices. You can just hand drill the whole without damaging the board.

This is well built and handy little item. Every hobbyist ought to have one. Frequently I need to drill a small hole in a wood for a model. Getting out the Dremel, which is what I used to do, is time consuming and yields worse results for delicate jobs.

Great product performance and outstanding craftmanship, to be expected from this made in USA device. I use it to twist silver and gold wire to make jewelry. Highly recommended.

It's a pin vise- just a very, very good pin vise. If you're going to purchase one of these things, this is the one to get. Shows up the Chinese knock-offs for what they are.

I bought this to hold a 1/8 inch drillbit to do some modeling work. It suits this purpose perfectly and holds tightly to the bit. It can be a little hard to turn fluidly, but I think this is a function of my hand and not the product.

I use this for cleaning out washer jet holes with the appropriate drill size and for cleaning my gas heater pilot jet that blocks up with carbon, is easy to open and close the chuck as well.
