Junk,

This review is from: Starrett 721A-6/150 Electronic Digital Caliper 6-Inch (150mm)
Hold function and auto-off function do not work, right out of the box. In order to shut the tool off, I have to disconnect the battery compartment cover. A co-worker saw the Starrett case on my desk and said, "I feel sorry for you for buying that piece of junk, I had to send mine back 3 times for problems like yours that they were never able to fix. Now it sits in a drawer."
Starrett was once a quality company. I purchased this tool in part to support an American company. Not any more. I now keep mine in the drawer so I can use it to warn other people. Buy Mitutoyo, I own & use several of their precision measuring tools daily. They are light years beyond Starrett. And no, I don't work for Mitutoyo, I run a fabrication shop which produces heavy equipment attachments.

Poor,
This review is from: Starrett 721A-6/150 Electronic Digital Caliper 6-Inch (150mm)
721A Calipers are a total failure in accuracy and dependability. These worked in a shop environment for about three months when they became eratic for no reason - not dropped or wet with coolant or damaged in any way. These are so expensive that they were placed in a toolbox for favor of a more reliable set and time has passed beyond warranty. I find it very hard to justify purchasing Starrett tools any longer. Their high prices do not relate to high quality - expensive lesson.
Thanks....

American Made Quality,

I own two of these calipers: one for work and one for home. I have owned them for over two years now and have had no problems with either set. Batteries last more than a year! Starrett has begun to shift some production overseas, so buy american while you still can.
