This is by far the best tap wrench I've ever used. When you close the jaws on a tap, it holds tight and won't loosen up like EVERY OTHER tap wrench I've used. Not much more to say really, this thing just works well. Be careful though, after your co-workers use it they won't want to use any other!

Working in a machine shop, quality tools that last a long time are a requirement. I've been using the cheaper style of tap wrench that is made by a plethora of Chinese companies for a few years now and was replacing them at a rate of approximately 1 per year.

I finally decided to purchase a GOOD tap wrench and went with the Starrett 91A and 91B. I can not get over how nice these tools are.

Pros: They hold the tap rock solid, the threads are tight and smooth, the overall design is about 200 years ahead of the other style of tap wrench...I do not see how these could wear out in a year, or even 10 as long as they are wiped down and lightly oiled before storage.

Cons: None.

Starrett tools are kind of like a Mercedes Benz. The long you wait to buy them, the more you end up spending. If you need a good tap wrench that you can rely on for years, just get these and be done with it.

These tap handles are a definite must have. Not only do they stay tight to the tap while I use them, but I never have to get a pair of
pliers or stick something in the handle hole to release the tap. I never want to own any tap wrenches other than Starrett.
Absolutely the best of the best.

This is exactly what I needed. After breaking a coupe of the cheap "Made in China" pieces of junk, I finally bought a real handyman's tap wrench. Sure wish I'd have done it sooner, This thing is a dream to use. Solid, precision craftsmanship for the true craftsman.

I purchased three Starrett tap handles, in various sizes, after using a terrible Chinese handle. These are wonderful to own and to use. The threads are a little rough at first due to the oxide coating, but smooth out nicely after one or two uses.
