5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing.....
When Miranda gets the call from "On The Edge" magazine telling her that she's won a contest to stay at movie star Byron Slater's California house and get the chance to star in his next movie, she's thrilled. When Miranda gets the call from "On The Edge" magazine telling her that she's won a contest to stay at movie star Byron Slater's California house and get the chance to star in his next movie, she's thrilled. Byron Slater is the hottest topic of teen action-romances, and to be able to spend the week in his house is unbelievable! As soon as she arrives, she senses that Byron has taking a liking to her and he starts confiding in her. He tells her that he thinks that someone might be stalking him and he feels in danger. Then, the sickening "accidents" start. Or are they accidents at all?.....

I thought this book was great! Richie Tankersley Cusick weaved suspense and romance throughout the book just right. I'll probably end up agreeing with the other reviewers in saying that this wasn't the author's best. This was the first book I read by her, and, standing alone, it seems terrific. But, compared to her other books, it might not seem as good. I'll admit, though, that while the book was suspenseful, it was a little predictable and the killer was, too. Other than that, I loved it! Can't wait to read more by her!.....

While I am forever a fan of Cusick's books, this one was a disappointment...

I had really hoped that this book would be good when I had bought it because I was under the impression that all, or most of her books, were outstanding. I had read Silent Stalker, Vampire, Fatal Secrets, and a few others before I picked up this book. These books were by far a few of her best, in my opinion and I was very anxious when I did bought this book. I couldn't wait to start it, but as I finished the book in a few hours, I wasn't completely satisfied...

Although the book in general was fine, the ending took me by complete surprise. Not because it was shocking and well thought out, but because it was so blatantly obvious and predictable -_-; I had suspected this character from the beginning and I was hoping that there would be some sort of twist because it seemed so obvious from the start of the events. I tried to convince myself that the ending would turn out as good as the rest of her books, but I was disappointed that everything that I had predicted actually happened.

Anyway, this is an okay book if you're reading one of Richie Tankersley Cusick's books for the first time, BUT if you're a devoted fan of her books, then you should avoid this book if you don't want to be disappointed. Although this book isn't her best, don't think that all of her books aren't good because many of her other books, such as Teacher's Pet, Vampire, Silent Stalker, Fatal Secrets, and The Mall are wonderful and have great plots and twist endings! ^_^

2.0 out of 5 stars It was okay, but I've read better by this author, June 14, 1999
This review is from: Starstruck (Mass Market Paperback)
While reading this book I felt disappointed in the writing. To me, there was too much background detail and talk about Byron and Nick obviously both wanting the lead character, Miranda. The author also decided to throw in way to many other characters like the agent, the publist, the 2 other girls in the contest, the bodyguard, etc. It was distracting to the story with so many characters in the room trying to talk. The ending was predictable and I wasn't surprised at the end. Some of her other books like "Silent Stalker" and "Someone At The Door" were a better read.

3.0 out of 5 stars She's had better., April 29, 1999

This review is from: Starstruck (Mass Market Paperback)
For anyone who has read other books by Richie Tankersly Cusick, Starstruck is a disappointment in comparision. However, it is by no means a boring book. I would recommend it to all but warn seasoned readers that it's not as great as Ms. Cusicks past works. In comparison to other works, I would give it a three. When looking at it by itself, a 4.5.

2.0 out of 5 stars A huge disappointment, August 23, 1998

This review is from: Starstruck (Mass Market Paperback)
This book might have appeal for people who haven't read any other books by Richie Tankersley Cusick, but as someone who has been a big fan ever since Fatal Secrets back in 1992, I was very disappointed by this book. It definitely wasn't up to her usual standards; the entire element of suspense was simply not there. I'm also disappointed by the fact that this author seems to have dropped off the face of the planet so far as her books are concerned, devoting time to writing up screenplays from Buffy the Vampire Slayer instead of writing her own original books. What ever happened to the book which was supposed to come out after Starstruck?

3.0 out of 5 stars "Fascinating Plotlines?!", December 26, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Starstruck (Mass Market Paperback)
Fascinating plotlines are what drive you to read Cusick's work? I don't know about that...while they are wonderfully fluffy ways to spend an afternoon, I have to tell you a secret. They are predictable in their "deviously" written plots. There are *always* two love interests of the surprisingly beautiful and strong female lead. The one who protects her the most is always the one she needs to be saved from by the other guy (Mr. Brotherly) at the end of the story. Cutesy fluff, yes. Fun read on a rainy day...yes. But fascinating plotlines? <laughs>

4.0 out of 5 stars "Lifestyles of the famous...and the dead.", December 26, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Starstruck (Mass Market Paperback)
When 17-year-old Miranda Peterson wins a magazine contest--along with two other girls: Kelly McCormick and Jo Brown--she's absolutely ecstatic. This is her big chance to meet Byron Slater, a popular actor who's allowing three young women to reside at his California estate for one week; and one lucky contest winner gets a part in his upcoming movie. However, when several near-death "accidents" befall Miranda and Byron--such as being poisoned, almost drowned, and nearly driven off a cliff--Miranda begins to have her doubts about staying with Byron, even though he's been incredibly attentive towards her, and even discloses an awful secret--that someone has been threatening him, possibly an obsessed fan.

There are a few parts in "Starstruck" that are a bit far-fetched; for example: Byron's immediate attraction to Miranda. I'm not saying Miranda couldn't attract someone like him, but it was very unlikely; and, besides, Miranda is a minor--something Byron should have kept in mind if he were so worried about bad press. I also didn't understand why Byron would invite her to stay in his house instead of the guesthouse with the other two girls--as well as why he would confide his fears to her about a dangerous stalker--when Miranda could possibly have been that person? Obviously she's not since she's the protagonist, but Byron's decision-making skills--among other things--seemed a little off to begin with. I won't give too much away, but at least one good thing about "Starstruck" is that Miranda hooks up with the guy I thought she should have done so with at the beginning of the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard to rate, October 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Starstruck (Mass Market Paperback)
Well, I must agree with the rest of you folks: this one was a disapointment. I thought the ending was really unbelievable. Ofcourse, the ends are ALWAYS a little crazy, but this one was just over the top. Plus, I knew who the killer was through the whole thing, which usually doesn't happen when I read RTC's books. But, she is my fave author, so out of respect to her, I'll give the book four stars, because some of the characters were interesting. I'm looking forward to her next book, which will hopefully have some of the suspense that "Someone At the Door" and "Silent Stalker" had.

5.0 out of 5 stars Starstruck, February 22, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Starstruck (Mass Market Paperback)
Starstruck was a good book. It was a little boring at times but other then that i liked how she made the killer someone that you would never expect. It was suspenceful and a bit misleading. which is a good thing for a mystery book. I can hardly wait to read more books by this author.
