This book is indeed written by an angel. I was always frustrated when I would search on Google for a book that talks about starting a cake decorating business and come up with little or no result. I had no choice but to print out E-zine articles. I almost paid a start up business consultant five hundred dollars. The author of this book covered everthing from marketing to State Department of Agriculture list, and provided website addresses. I read this book religiously. My husband also likes the book. For those who are planning on starting a cake designing business, look no further. This is it!!!

It's not so much that this is a BAD resource, it's just nothing new I didn't already have from searching online. I had hoped it would be a valuable resource for business plan samples, contracts, etc., but it only talks about the importance of having them. This book is also flooded with typos, which just became annoying to me. Save your money and do research online through cake forum sites instead, then, go buy a standard start-up business book guide. I'm going to try the "How to Start a Home-Based Personal Chef Business" based on reviews...

This book was exactly what I was loooking for. My husband (has a business degree) said this is the best book I have ever spent money on. It really does cover everything you would need to know about starting your own cake business. There are also a ton of great references and web adresses to find out more. If you are even thinking of selling cakes this book is a must!

I carefully read all of the reviews before purchasing this book. I am working on my business plan for my cake shop and thought it would be beneficial to me and answer some questions that I have. I have reasearched this on and off for a few months. This book told me nothing new. It was expensive and NOT worth the money. Take some time and look it up online and buy a book about business plans. Don't waste your money on this. I think this was written only because it is a popular google search and someone wanted to make a quick buck and threw this together. =(

I was pretty disappointed with this book. The information was basically general advice that I'd already found on the internet or through experience of my own. It was geared toward the beginning home baker looking to get their home kitchen licensed rather than a more experienced decorator trying to get a commercial kitchen. Since only a few states license home bakeries anyway, it's not very relevant for most states. I was hoping for more detailed information that would help me maneuver through the complicated process of opening a shop. The author did recommend a few good websites but I could have found those on my own, plus it was a pain trying to type long addresses instead of being able to click on them. There were also many typos and mistakes, so it wasn't very professional. This book definitely wasn't worth [...] and I'll probably try selling it to recoup some of my money.

I got this book as a gift at my asking. I was hoping that it would help me figure out the final pieces of the cake business puzzle that I had been working on for the past few months. However, it seemed more geared towards the person who decided to start a cake business one day, without any prior experience, research, or knowledge how businesses work.

Start A cake business today is the most informative book I have found on the subject to date, and I have read quite a few books on this. The author has made it simple to see the pros and the cons of the business.

Writen in a style that is easily understandable, consice information, as well as a great internet reference section. A highly recomendable book.

How they can charge $27 for this tiny paperback is beyond me. It should be priced at about $13-$16, I was appalled when it arrived. The content is OK, though nothing revolutionary. I just wanted to voice my complaint about the level of quality of the book for its price.

I have read several books on business and I found this one very helpful. I wasn't sure how to make the business part work and now I have clear picture of it. The legal section was exactly what I was looking for. I am grateful for all of the time it has saved me from having to search for all of this information and I like having a resource on my bookshelf that I can refer back to. It is written in a no-nonsense way that makes it easy for me to set goals and get everything in place to open my business. There is a lot in the book I would have never thought of. The marketing section gave me all sort of things to do. Now I am excited to get my business going.

Not a glamorous book, but very good, with all the information to consider when starting a cake business. Ecspecially important is all the contact information for research, ie: websites and the legal info. for every state.
