5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Project Management - Highly Recommended
After reading this book from cover to cover, I found it to be a clear and concise approach to project management emphasizing, People, Process and Technology. It covers all aspects essential to project management: Definition, Documentation, Communication, and Implementation. Along the way, it includes practical advice, and real world examples. I highly recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just OK
I found this reference to be very thin on practical, useful advice. I've paid less for better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Project Management, March 2, 2004

Are you currently having a difficult time managing multiple projects at a time? Missing critical deadlines? Trying to find a way to organize all of your projects? I know I was. I remember seeing a presentation on project management and how an effective strategy it was getting multiple projects done. At first I did not believe it, but after reading Mr. Kadlec's book I am now a believer. Six months after I read this book, I was able to meet all of my projects deadlines. This book is easy to read and the examples are easy to adapt too. You can tell this book was just not written from research, but from just good old fashion trial and error experience. Buy this book now you will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very helpful tool., February 13, 2004

I attended a presentation that the author gave on Project Management. I have been in the IT field for 20 years, although have no experiance with Project Management. His presentation made me realize just how important project management is. It can mean the difference between professional success or failure. I followed up his presentation by reading this book. His writing style is concise. A sample project is defined, developed and completed within the book. Plenty of sample documents are displayed. The book has made me understand the causes of alot of the frustrations that I had experianced at work. I am beginning to use the concepts from the book and I can see where they will help not only myself but my department too. A very helpful tool!

Although not an IT specialist, I am responsible for projects within our product training department. I recently completed a large project for interactive training modules for our end-user interface to the company's point-of-sale system we sell in the petroleum industry. Mr. Kadlec's book assisted me in identifying key timelines and structured processes for this computer based training program. This easy to read book is a great buy for any professional who needs an informative reference tool to assist in project management flow. An exceptional value for the money and a recommended read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great help for Beginner Project Managers/Leaders, December 17, 2003

This review is from: Start to Finish Guide to IT Project Management (Digital)
I read this book recently and found it a wonderful guide to me as a still relatively new project leader in the IT world being given projects to lead with no idea how to get started. The author understands that most of us IT people have no project management skills, and starts us from ground zero. I like the author's conversational style - I can just picture him talking to me and trying to get his point across. I have already put into place alot of the suggestions for communications during a project, such as scheduled meetings, alot of written followups to any meetings or verbal discussions, and using Lessons Learned at the end of a project. I have used alot of the examples of documentation as templates for documentation I create in my recent projects, which has also been a big help. This book is easy to read - you'll fly through it and be ready to go. It is definitely a good buy for the price.

I am an old pro at project management who purchased this book to brush up my knowledge after a few years out of the IT PM game. The author is thorough and his tips are sound. This is probably not the best idea for a PM neophyte but if you are looking to improve your skills or dust off a few brain cells before taking on a big new project, I whole-heartedly recommend this book...a great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent step by step project management guide for IT managers, January 14, 2007
This review is from: Start to Finish Guide to IT Project Management (Digital)
This is one of the easiest guides to follow. Very comprehensive, and tells you everything you need to do to successfully manage any IT project.

What I really liked about this guide is the fact that the author has actually put samples of all the documents required to succesfully manage a project.

Very easy to read and really works. I use this guide as my reference in managing all IT project assgned to me and so far it hasn't failed me.
