This Rolling Stones cut typifies the rock and roll power and longevity of the Rolling Stones. Probably one of the most recognized Stones issues because of the highly publicized Russian concert many years ago - it was played repeatedly on TV for months!
Start Me Up really emphasizes the blaring guitar work of Keith Richards in a hard hitting, moving and shaking party/dance sound. It is one of those singles that get the tapping going strong. While this is probably my favorite Stones piece, I do think that, especially considering the release era (early 80's), the last two lines in the fadeout should have been cut - they may have been just a bit too raw, even now! |
