This book is very well written and an excellent guide if the reader is looking to build a successful, profitable home cleaning business. Susan Bewsey does a good job of outlining the steps you need to take to get this business off the ground, and to maintain the business. She also gives a good general idea of what all the business involves. As far as holding your hand to go get the license, bonding and insurance...no, she doesn't do that. But she does tell you what you need, and where and who to check with to obtain them, and to get more information on them. After all, different country's, states, and even city's requirements differ. If you're going to make it in a business of your own, you need to be able to do some things for yourself.

The book is so basic - no details. For example, you would think it would go into the details of insurance - what the difference is between bonding and liability insurance and advise you as to which you need, and where to go for this, and how much to expect it to cost. Instead the book only says, "This Insurance is important protection" and will "offset the costs of major damages". Same with Licenses. It tells you that you need one - offers no advice as to how to go about getting one, if there are fees, etc. - zero details at all. I was very disappointed in this book.

I've read and re-read Bewsey's book, Start and Run a Home Cleaning Business and she's done a fabulous job. There are lots of ideas for people generally in business for themselves working out of their homes. She has great goal-setting questions and really tries to focus the reader on thinking, not just about cleaning homes, but providing a service that clients will call upon again and again. Bewsey has wonderful customer service ideas, marketing and pricing your service. She's done a great job and this book has already become a very usable resource.

This is a good book, not too original or with the times though, times are changing fast. I would recommend augmenting it with the Suze and Ev method for starting a cleaning business, which is available online. Google it!

I have had my own house cleaning business for 13 years but decided to read this book anyways. IM glad that I did because it offers up some refreshing ideas. Ideas that I plan to put to use in my business. There were many things that I do differently and I like my way better but I would say all in all that this book was worth purchasing.

There is a myriad of similar information on operating a house cleaning business. About 99% of what's out there is pretty basic stuff. But, for the price, you really shouldn't expect much, either. The trouble is, like another review touched on, insufficient information is almost as dangerous as having none. If you are serious about starting or growing a substantial, successful and highly profitable residential cleaning service, visit [...]. It's a larger investment, but the information and business principles it teaches will pay for itself in both time and money saved many, many times over.

This book is well written with knowledge that is need to know if you are going to own and operate a cleaning business. There is no fluff. The knowledge that is needed is given to you so you know exactly what to do. From great forms to how to clean just about everything in the house, and with what types of solutions, equipment, etc. I rented the book from the library, but I'm buying it here so I will have it on hand at all times. The only thing I am regretting is that you may become my competitor and if you have this book, and follow it you could be give me too good of a run for the money.

This reference provides a novice with the necessary skills to start a house cleaning business. The suggestions and charts give needed resources for anyone interested in entering this field of work.

The book explains, in simple to understand processes, the methods in commencing a small home based business. The concepts are applicable to any service industry. Susan is to be congratulated on taking it the distance she did. We could use more pioneers like her. Well done! ageless to date.
