Editorial Reviews

Review

High praise for the Five Demandments ... John Feeney has condensed his many years of advising and mentoring entrepreneurs into this delightful and practical Guide. His Five Demandments provide the critical elements required to raise money and succeed as a business venture. I call this Guide John Feeney In A Box. It should be required reading for any company that seeks money from and Angel organization or investor. --~ DuWayne Peterson, Chairman/Founder, Pasadena Angels

John s approach to mentoring entrepreneurs gets the job done. No fluff, buzzwords or high-falutin theories, but the nuts and bolts to build the rock solid business foundation investors look for. Execute well on the 5 demandments, and you re way ahead of the pack, no matter what your secret sauce is. --~ Thorsten Hoins, Executive VP, Cakebox International Corp.

The road of entrepreneurship is paved with great ideas that never took hold for any number of reasons. John s prescriptions for avoiding catastrophe are culled from both the stories of failure and success endemic to all start-ups. Spare yourself grief and get the distilled version of what every entrepreneur needs to know. Disregard these five demandments at your own peril. --~ Morgan Hatch, Pettrax: LOJAC for Pets

This review is from: How To Avoid Start-Up Catastrophe, The Entrepreneur's Essential Checklist for Success (Paperback)
Feeney offers a lighthearted collection of advice about starting a startup company. In this brief book, anecdotes are offered and guidelines furnished. The author is one of the founding members of the Pasadena Angels, a collection of people possibly offering funding and, equally important, advice to new companies in the Los Angeles area.

The book does suffer from some distractions. The author uses the word PowerPoint in several places, and persists in appending the copyright symbol after it. This is just annoying and unnecessary.
