Book Description

Start a Freedom Business is a collection of practical tips and information by serial entrepreneur and full time traveler, Colin Wright.

This book is intended to help aspiring entrepreneurs build businesses that they can be proud of and profit from, while also avoiding the startup trap that many young business people fall prey to, which leads them to exchange a good portion of their lives (a very finite resource) for more money (something that can be earned without that horrible tradeoff).

Chapters cover:

What a Freedom Business is, how to start one, and why you would want to.
The perspective shift that will allow you to reach your ideal lifestyle faster.
Why work-life balance is not what you should be aiming for.
How to focus on value instead of money, so you can reclaim more of both.
The 'All or Nothing' principle.
A vast array of basic business concepts.
Coverage of many different Freedom Business models.
Interviews with successful entrepreneurs who have build their businesses with personal freedoms and their ideal lifestyles in mind.

...and more!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too basic for me, but great value January 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This guide isn't necessarily about freedom businesses - it's about a mixture of location independence and digital entrepreneurship. I feel like he led in with the benefits of the freelance business, but the rest of the guide just focused on business issues and skills rather than a connected strategy.

That's fine. This book is FANTASTIC value for those who buy it. I read a lot about social media, and marketing, and not many books have cover all the topics that these do. Most of the similar ones I've read are, frankly, crap. The only one that is similar to this in quality is Serena Star leonards book called 'How To Retire in 12 months'. That is more expensive, but is also a lot more in depth.

I feel like this guide is perfect for those who want a primer and may be unfamiliar with many facets of the web industry. Those like myself, who already operate web businesses, will just be skimming it. It's the same information and the same stories.

Those who are thinking about creating a freedom business though will get one of the best values for money. You'll be able to figure out if this is something you want to research further without wasting money or time. Colin links to several good resources and examples so you'll definitely get a solid feel for the subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars A $0.99 Gem of an e-book January 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Here's a $0.99 gem of an e-book for anyone who has ever considered leaving their day job.

I bought and finished the book earlier this week. Honestly, it was one of the most inspiring things I've read in months.

The book covers the big questions I had about entering the entrepreneurial space. Without diving too deep into complexities, Colin enriches what you've likely suspected and provides challenges for you to start taking action in your own life.

Filled with excellent references for further reading, this book may be just the kick you need to get yourself going with your own freedom business ideas.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Primer and Source of Inspiration January 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Colin's latest work, Start a Freedom Business, succeeds in two important ways.

First, it provides a great overview of the Freedom Business concept, including what it is, who it's for, and how it differs from typical entrepreneurship.

Second, it's a terrific source of inspiration. Colin provides a long and detailed list about the different ways you can create income for a Freedom Business, and it's perfect for coming up with ideas. I read this book in one sitting, and afterward I felt energized and ready to get to work. As Colin writes, it's up to you to seize the moment when you're done reading, and the book definitely makes you excited to do so.

For the most part, this is not a step-by-step guide in the sense that you won't have a Freedom Business built by the end of the book, but it will get you thinking and the creative juices flowing.

At $0.99, Start a Freedom business is a tremendous value and a firm, but friendly, push out of the nest.
