So far, I've bought two of these and both have worked flawlessly. After a line surge (which had a surge protector) two of our computers ethernet ports installed directly to the motherboards quit working. Neither of these computers have "floppy disk" drives and so I was glad to see that these come with cd's to install the drives. However, the computer read the drives as soon as the PCI NIC was installed. I'm happy to say that both now hook up consistently even though one has been replaced by an EMachine and will be kept as a spare. The Startech 10/100BT card is a winner and very inexpensive. It just works and that is all I ask from any tool!

While finishing up a fresh install of Windows XP on a 9 year old PC, I found that the network drivers would not install and determined it was a hardware issue with the adapter. The light was 'on' the old network card, but no matter how I tried to update the driver, the PC wouldn't accept it.

I purchased this PCI network card as a cheap, last ditch effort to be able to get the computer updated via the Internet. When it arrived I popped open the case, pulled out the old card and attempted to install this one. The fit was 'off'. A bit of gentle bending was required to screw it into proper alignment in the PCI slot so that the port was accessible. Once I got it seated and fired up, Windows XP recognized it as new hardware immediately and installed a driver for it, even before I could put the driver CD in the drive! I installed the updated driver from the CD and the Internet connection was immediate. I was thrilled to have that fix go so easily and work so well.

This is a cheap card, but it works. I'd buy another one and recommend it to others. It comes with two sizes of slot backings, so if you have short or tall PCI slots on your computer, this card will work for you. It's also compatible with XP, Vista and Windows 7.

Solved my problem cheaply when Dell Support claimed there was nothing wrong with my computer. Since the Dell computer I have uses an ethernet port built onto the motherboard, they would have had to replace the motherboard to fix the problem. Using this product was faster and cheaper. After installing this product I was back up and running in no time.

This device didn't work at all. Also the driver disc doesn't identify which drivers are for which devices. (IE: The phrase ST100S is not mentioned on any drivers, and there are a lot).
Went to their website and downloaded the drivers. The folder for XP was empty. (Even though XP is supposed to auto install this, nothing I tried worked). Refund was instant and I didn't have to return defective product!

I've been using this card for several months in a Windows 7 PC. No complaints, no hassle, haven't thought about it once since I installed it. Just what I wanted.

This network interface card comes with 2 slot plates, one normal for regular computer chassis and the half plate for those smaller form factor chassis. Wish more manufacturers did the same.
