5.0 out of 5 stars Super Overclocking and Stability, December 1, 2002

This review is from: Startech 450watt Long Life Atx Pc Computer Power Supply with bb Fan (Personal Computers)
One of the most overlooked and yet extremely important components of any computer is a high quality power supply. This PS is of the highest quality and is capable of the most demanding loads that anyone is going to need from a PS. You will not find a better PS than this anywhere for the price that Amazon.com has this one. I am running an overclock AMD CPU with and overclocked Geforce video card and overclocked memory. My cooliong needs require six additional case fans besides the CPU cooling fan and the motherboard chipset cooling fan. This PS is able to handle this load with out one single hiccup. It would be able to power more fans and drives if needed. You will be very satisfied with this unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Up to speed!, January 19, 2003

Excellent product for the price (so far). .... Bought a case and power supply combo pretty cheap (300 watt ps) should have been enough to power everything I have, the basics realy, but it wouldn't. My rw wouldn't write at top speed, my extra USB card wouldn't opperate (attempt to) and the whole thing seemed to be sluggish even though I just put it all together. The second I dropped it in there "BAM" the whole thing came to life! ...

I bought this psu about 6-7 months ago. I am running a lot of extra hardware and the power wattage is excellent. The only con is it says in the product description: "Low noise/ripple". Im running my pc in my bedroom so you can try to imagine how it is. But there is noise, loud enough so when I laydown, you can hear that 'hhhuuummmmmm'. My bed is about 10 feet away from my PC and I can still hear it.

If you are looking to buy a power supply with great power wattage, and great price, and aren't annoyed easily with humming noise from psu fans then go right ahead.

If you want a downgrade to a 400W psu with no noise what-so-ever but around the same price, I recommend the Zalman 400W Noiseless w/ Active PFC PSU. It also comes in handy with velcro straps to keep those power chords organized and squared away and its completely silent.

I gave this item 3 stars not because of the quality, but the noise alone.
