Hi !
I had to put one washer between the starter and engine-body, at one of the two assembling holes.
The reason was to get a proper fitment of the plastic gear on the starter and the flywheel.
(I dont know the calculated lifetime of plastic gear on the starter, but I see it as a risk of abbreviated lifetime)

Installed this on a 12 hp briggs lawn tractor. The mounting bracket was not as thick as the stock one so the gear mesh wasnt quite right. Had to use two shims to get the correct spacing. This starter has been working great for two months now. For a "factory" starter it would have been about $100, this was a great alternative.

This starter was identical in dimensions to the original starter, so it was easy to install. No idea as to the longevity. So far it starts the 14.5 HP Briggs engine on my mower just fine. No complaints.
