Good little full tang knife , duller than dull you will spend sometime sharpening it, but is a decent knife for price. You will want to rewrap the handle with your own para cord.

Decent Boot Knife,

I would give it 4.5 stars if possible, only because the sheath is poor quality. This knife is small, but it is still a decent boot knife. The blade came fairly dull, but it sharpens easily and holds an edge about average. The sheath is poorly constructed, on the day I received it the blade had already begun to tear through the bottom. The Magnesium fire starter is surprisingly good given the price for both objects. Overall, a very good purchase.

OK for the price,

I re-wrapped the handle on mine and found the blade extremely dull as well. The case is not stiff at all which leads to the knife getting caught while inserting and removing from case. Also, the nylon on the case was very slightly frayed in places when it arrived which I simply repaired with a lighter. Still, this knife is inexpensive and lighter than other knives it's size.

Massive hunk of steel in a cheap package.,

I got two of these for my sons as their first field/camp knives. They were so cheap, I considered them throw away knives, meaning, no matter what happens to them, they weren't a great loss. I was pleased though when I got them and saw how significantly strong the blade and tang is. The steel is about 5/32" thick and has a satin, not quite bead blasted feeling, finish on it. The tanto point adds considerably to the durable look and feel of this knife.Hands down, the sheath is crap. It's floppy and the blade tip immediately begins to wear through it. The serrations on the back of the blade make it hard to "slide" in and out of the sheath. The velcro retaining loop is big enough to hold three of these knives! The cord wrapped on the handle, IMO, is crap, because it isn't milspec 550 cord, but that's just my preference. and there isn't enough cord on it to make the handle feel right. It's thin and insubstantial feeling. My first project was to re-wrap both grips for my boys. Also, there are holes in the tang that would allow you to fit scales on it instead of a wrap if you wanted. The edge on this knife looks like it was ground by underpaid, Chinese laborers, because it was. It will take me hours to reprofile both of these blades in order to get something approaching an edge on them. However, there's plenty of steel there to grind. Eventually, I feel certain they will have decent edges. The "saw teeth" on the back edge look somewhat cosmetic and useless in the web pictures, but actually have a bite to them. I haven't cut with them, but they feel and appear as though they will do the job fairly well. For what I paid, and the purpose I bought these for, I'm very happy with them. I wouldn't be happy to have it as my primary carry in the field, but it is an excellent starter for your little buddy or buddies. Stainless, heavy, and thick enough to throw at trees, and really cool looking to my sons. I give them 3 stars for all the cons I mentioned, but 5 stars for how my boys feel about them.

If you are good at sharpening knifes. Just figure that is what you will be doing. The flint is good. And after you get the knife sharp. It is a good buy. Just know what you are in for.

MAKE IT THE KNIFE YOU WANT!!,

You may add your own para-chord and then take some vera-thane and add sand to it and coat the braided tang and allow to dry thorughly. A thick enough coat will provide a completely sealed chord to tang bond. The only time it might create a problem is when it's subjected to high heat and then it might get sticky which may be an advantage. For the sheath, dip it in to a mixture of glue and water and allow to dry. Varying mixtures of water to glue will stiffin the sheath up enough. When gluing or vera-thaning the sheath, afix a small compass and a piece of something reflective to the back side/ hip side so that it doesn't get knocked off. Add a small whistle to the para-chord lanyard. For the lanyard, you may want to replace it with a pre-made para-chord bracelet. They sell these on the Kennesaw blade website for 8-9 bucks. They are longer in length, made of either 250 -500 pound para-chord and they are braided to fit around your wrist so you don't have 4' 0f loose lanyard hanging around waiting to become a hazard. Be creative... these knives are so cheap in price that you can buy 3-4 of them and attach one to a walking stick, put one in your emergancy survival bag and one to carry full time at your side. Use a fine file occasionally to keep the blades shape and a stone to sharpen. Stainless is to hard for a pull through or electric sharpener. Be prepared and good luck!

For the price of this package, you really can't complain. Obviously, you aren't paying for the best quality knife. But, for the cost, this knife is fantastic, and the spark stick alone is worth half the cost. The sheath isn't the best, just your typical soft nylon style, but that really is the only thing I don't like about this set-up. This is one of those few things that actually feels like you are getting more than you are paying for!If you are ever putting together any kind of survival kit, first aid kit, or are into pretty much any kind of outdoors lifestyles, this truly is a must have tool! As a hunter, camper, skier, mountain biker, and all around survivalist, I cannot give this item enough praise!

Tang-Tastic, Great Knife for the Price!,

Nice knife for the price. The only real drawback is the sheath which is cheap and the knife easily cuts through it & catches on it when holstering the knife. Besides the sheath, the knife itself is basically a big hunk of metal with some cheap cord for the handle. I immediately discarded the handle wrap that came with it, and re-wrapped the handle with 550 paracord. It's looking pretty good now after a little sharpening & the fire-starter works like a charm. For a knife that costs around $10, I'm not disappointed at all.
