5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent peripheral suite - with some caveats March 29, 2011
Verified Purchase
I preordered this set for my 3DS, I knew I'd be needing to get screen protectors, extra stylii, and some sort of carrying case, so I sorta added this package to my order without totally going through all of it. Having now received it, I gotta say, it has a ton of stuff I didn't even think about. Hard plastic AR Card protector, hard plastic game card holders (each hold six, but don't try to jam the card all the way down into the slot - there's a bit of raised plastic keeps it easy to get your cards back out again), and a flash card reader for my computer? Awesome!

A couple of gripes: The screen protector for the topscreen doesn't have a hole cut out for the player-facing camera. This may not be an issue, I haven't tried it out yet, but I know the iPhone 4 screen protector has a camera hole. The headphones come with a larger and smaller size ear cushion, but replacing those ear cushions is a huge pain and requires moderate anger and just pushing the cushion all the way onto the nub and straightening it out later.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase ,and would recommend it to others, with those warnings about the game card holders, screen protectors and ear buds kept in mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for your 3DS! March 28, 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I pre-ordered this so I knew I would get it right away once the 3DS was released. It includes everything pictured and it is all very essential for your 3DS. the headphones were good for my purposes. I do not know how to evaluate their sound quality as I do not usually use headphones, but they were definitely an improvement over the 3DS speakers when listening to music. I am glad I purchased this and would recommend this kit for everyone! I did notice that the 3DS does not have a place to attach the wrist strap that comes with this kit, though. I'm still glad they included it because the travel bag does have a place to attach it and that may come in handy at some point.

5.0 out of 5 stars All the accessory items you need! April 3, 2011

This kit contains pretty much everything you need to use your 3DS on-the-go, and compared to other kits, it is quite cheap while containing more items! I always expect a car charger and headphones with a handheld gaming kit, but this one really goes above and beyond, especially for the price! The carrying case is roomy enough to stash the 3DS with a few games and a car charger. I also like that it doesn't have the DS logo on it, because DS-branded cases might attract the attention of thieves. The AR case is useful for not losing those little nifty cards. I also like the nice touch of SD-to-USB stick that lets you manipulate the files on the 3DS's SD card. And of course, you also have much-needed screen protectors and lint-free cleaning cloth. Except for games, maybe a full-body skin or a silicone case, there really isn't much else you could want!

3.0 out of 5 stars Some good, some bad. December 8, 2011

Pros: Carrying case is lightweight and carries a whole lot of stuff. Card cases are convenient. Haven't had any trouble with the extra styli and the SD card reader was a nice touch that I wasn't expecting. Also like having a wrist strap. Cleaning cloth does wonders.

Cons: The headphones are low-quality and cheap. They muffle the sound. Ear buds are also ridiculously hard to remove and replace. I had trouble applying the top screen protectors. The first seemed to fit fine but air bubbles and dust made it useless. The second just didn't fit. Just use your common sense, as I didn't, and make sure to apply it in a clean, dust/hair-free area and take your time. I was able to apply the touch screen protector easily and without any obvious bubbles (some on the edges). It also doesn't fit perfectly but well enough. However, it scratches like crazy. I don't know if it's something wrong with the screen or if there's something on my stylus that I just can't get off but after about 15 minutes of playing, the screen is completely scratched up. It's better than having the actual screen scratched, of course, and most of the scratches aren't noticeable unless at a certain angle, but it's still a little disheartening.

So buy this for the good really essential things - the case, extra styli, car charger and card cases, as well as the extra things like the cloth, card reader, and wrist band. Use different headphones and I'd recommend a different screen protector (I use the official Nintendo screen protector for the top screen and will probably apply it to the touch screen if scratches become too distracting). I don't mind having spent $20 on this but it I was expecting higher quality for some parts of the set.

Note: I wouldn't trust the case to protect the DS from hard impact falls or too much force, so I'd still take caution with it. It's essentially a few layers of fabric, there doesn't seem to be anything to cushion the blow should something go wrong.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great price for all that it comes with March 30, 2012

I mainly purchased this because I was looking for a case. The case stays closed with a little piece of velcro and has a pouch in front. You can fit the game cases (that are included with this kit) in that pouch. There are 2 cases and they each hold 6 DS/3DS games (3 on each side). I haven't had any issues with either the case or the game cases yet.

As for the other items, I haven't bothered too much to try them out, but I'll still go over them anyways.

AR Card case: I'm still not quite sure what the AR cards are for, but it's the same deal as the game case. It's just a plastic case to hold those cards. Not much to say about it.

SD card reader: My computer has a slot for SD cards, so I'd have no use for it, but for those who do, I had tried it out and it works just fine.

Car charger: I haven't had a chance to try it out, but next time I remember, I'll go out and sit in the car to charge my 3DS. ;P

In-ear headphones: These are about as cheap and crappy as you can get. I literally tried them out and tossed them in the garbage. Good job for trying, but they suck. :(

Audio splitter: I haven't had a chance to try out, and I don't expect to ever need it.

Retractable Stylus x 3: They look and feel just like the original. I actually keep one in the case in that front pouch I mentioned earlier. The other two, I leave at home.

XL Stylus: It feels just like a pen and works like the regular stylus. I probably won't use it too often, but it's nice to have.

Wrist strap: I haven't gotten around to putting it on, but I'm sure it works fine.

Screen protectors: I refuse to put them on any of my electronics. For those that do like them, I'm sure they work fine.

Cleaning cloth: Every electronic with a screen needs one of these. It does exactly as you'd expect.

In all, this was a great deal for under $20.
