This is the best deck for beginners or phone readers.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Starter Tarot Deck (Cards)
I use this deck with my on-line Mystery School students. It works beautifully because the meanings are printed right on the cards. No fumbling thru the little booklet, frantically trying to associate meaning to picture. This helps your mind make that association all the quicker! And for folks who do telephone card readings for their clients, there is no other deck. If you get a brain cramp, again, the meaning suggestions, like a cue-card, are right there in front of you. The artwork isn't as pretty as some of the new decks, but that's because this one is based on the oldest existing deck, Marseilles, currently in a Museum in France. The minor arcana is primitive, too, but again it's a nice kind of primitive-ness harking back to the days when all students of the Tarot had to draw, paint and create their own Tarot decks. What a job that must have been. This deck's art looks like that---created by an everyday person, you or me. (Unless you're an artist, that is!) Yet, all the symbols and colors are accurate and visible. I recommend this deck to anyone who is self-conscious or worried about their skill. You can use this deck to do readings, even play poker or other card games with as you memorize the meanings and get a feel for the Tarot. Then you switch to a more artistic, more beautiful deck with no meanings anywhere in sight---except nicely stored in your mind's library!

Starter Tarot Deck,
By Annette Willis (USA) - See all my reviews

This is an excellent beginners' tool. If you have absolutely no idea how to read Tarot cards, you can do a reading in less than 10 minutes. The instructions are so simple and the accuracy is shocking. This is a good set of cards.

There are not "accidents",

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Starter Tarot Deck (Cards)
This is a great deck for beginner and pro alike. There are no accidents in life, as you will discover for yourself when you begin using tarot cards. One word of caution: any good tarot reader will tell you that it is almost impossible to read for yourself. That's why we, the readers at [keen], consult each other when we have "feelings" that we need verified. My personal recommendation is that you have a reading no more often than every 3-4 weeks. Otherwise you find that you dilute the meaning and energy of events. This deck is the perfect way to begin your journey into the study of the tarot, which means "hidden knowledge". The oldest known tarot deck is 15th Century Italian. There must be a reason they've been around so long: they work! You will find, once you become familiar with the meanings of the cards, that you will be drawn to continue your journey and delve into other decks. Take your time and find one that "speaks" to you. The artwork on tarot decks is meant to spur your intuition. Best of luck with this great deck and happy reading!

Great For Phone Readers,
This review is from: Starter Tarot Deck (Cards)
I think this is a great way for phone readers to be able to keep there mind on the reading and not wrapped up in the cards. It gives you a good starting point to learn what the cards mean to you. It is also nice for people who have read for a long time becuase everyone has moments of blankness. The pictures are simplistic which helps you keep on track and not distracted by the art work. So, far I have not found a better deck for reading on the phones.

I used these for work,
This review is from: Starter Tarot Deck (Cards)
Decent for phone-a-psychics. Really bad art work. I could have drawn these, but if you're on the phone nobody else can see them. Descriptions are kind of repetitive. Similar descriptions for diffrent cards. I did like that it had the reverse meanings printed and it comes with a neat little phamplet about the history of tarot. Dont use these as a script, you still will have to make up a lot. I would have had less art work and more explinations.

tarot deck with some interesting features,
By
This review is from: Starter Tarot Deck (Cards)
My first exposure to tarot cards (aside from seeing them in movies) was years ago when a cousin of my wife showed us a deck she had bought. It was Crowley's Book of Thoth deck. I think she knew nothing of Crowley, the OTO, or occultism in general. However, she saw that the art on the cards were very beautiful and picked them because of that.
She and her college roommate had played around with them, but when they tried to do readings for each other they had to constantly refer to a booklet for the card meanings. At that time, I was interested in buying a tarot deck, and when I saw the Starter Tarot, I was mostly interested in the feature of having the card meanings (or at least suggested meanings) on the card itself. Some people are put off by the art work on the cards, which clearly is not as nice as many other decks. However, there is a reason for this. The Major Arcana of this deck are modeled after the Marseilles deck. In fact, the Major Arcana of the Start Tarot deck look almost identical to the Marseille deck as depicted in the Tarot of the Bohemians by Papus (1896). The artwork for the Minor Arcana on the traditional Marseille decks, however, only have geometrical patterns. So, the designer of the Starter Tarot modeled the Minor Arcana off the Rider-Waite deck but apparently tried to maintain an artistic style consistent with the Major Arcana. So, while some reviewers have been pretty critical of the artwork of the deck, it is a sort of tribute to the history of the modern tarot deck. One more comment on the art work. The drawings look as if they were colored with crayons. Maybe it is chalk, but in any case, I think this adds to the childish look of the art. The Minor Arcana of the Starter Tarot also tell stories which are outlined in the included booklet.

This set is a perfect set for all phone readers. From the newest on the phone lines to the most experienced! You can get somewhat flustered working the phone lines, no matter what your experience level is. This set of Tarot cards helps with that! You have all of the meanings right in front of you, ON THE CARD! This enables you to release the pressure and give better readings every time. I recommend this set to all of the phone readers I hire for PSYCHIC ENCOUNTERS, a Psychic Readers Network Contractor!

A neat little set,
By Melinda L. Buskirk (Ona, WV USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Starter Tarot Deck (Cards)
I mainly became interested in Tarot by researching practicing magic in order to make my fantasy writing more believable. I thought this set was really handy because the booklet includes basic instructions on laying out the cards and their relationship with one another, as well as providing an overview of the history of Tarot cards and the story of the cards themselves. The cards themselves include brief explanations of the meaning of each card in both the upright and reverse positions. Altogether, I found it easy to grasp. I was able to perform my first reading within a few minutes of finishing the instruction book.

Perfect For The Beginner.,

This was my second tarot deck many many years ago. This is a perfect deck for novices and intermediate readers. I'm sure even advanced readers would like this deck to refresh their skills. Do not let the negative reviews change your mind for what this deck really is a STARTER TAROT DECK. In addition, this deck facilitates readings because there are no thumbing through books for meanings. Excellent deck for the beginner!
