Filmed at several major hang gliding schools in the U.S. and Canada, "Starting Hang Gliding" includes first lessons on the training hill, tandem instruction, and expert pilots demonstrating advanced techniques, all with spectacular in-air footage and a great soundtrack. "The purpose of this video is to help grow the sport of hang gliding. It can be used by anyone to present a positive image of the sport today." Comments Hamilton. The video introduces a number of ways of becoming airborne; aerotowing, ground towing behind a boat or truck, and foot-launching from a mountain. Once in the air, important flying basics are covered, such as glider trim, stalls, gaining speed and flying for fun with mild aerobatics to thrill the student. Tandem teams demonstrate approach and flare technique.

As an aspiring HG pilot (I have never flown a HG), this video is great. I would give it a rating of 5 if they made it a little longer. Fifteen minutes+ is simply not enough even if it is just presented as an introduction to the sport of HG.
