Starting Right, A Basic Guide to Museum Planning,
By A Customer
This review is from: Starting Right: A Basic Guide to Museum Planning (American Association for State and Local History) (Paperback)
This is an excellent "how to do it" guide if you are considering establishing a museum in your community. It is easy to read, and gives very specific guidlines to determine if your museum plan is feasible from both financial and community support considerations. If so, there are specific steps (from writing a mission statement to establishing a collections policy) to follow for prudent setup and running of a successful museum. Additional resources are listed for each step along the way.

I needed a book with an overview of museum planning. This book was great. It gave me the facts to help me make informed decisions about how to, or whether to, proceed with starting a museum plan. It was easy to read and understand and had a lot of helpful information on where to go next.
