5.0 out of 5 stars For "Pros" and "Rookies" alike!, December 23, 1998
This review is from: Starting Small Groups: Building Communities That Matter (Leadership Insight Series) (Paperback)
As an addition to the publisher's collection of books in the "Leadership Insight Series," Jeffrey Arnold offers a "how-to" and "why" book the purpose of which is described simply in the title: Starting Small Groups: Building Communities That Matter. Despite the numerous benefits and proven success of small groups, very few congregations have more than 5 percent of their members active in them. Arnold offers this resource as a hands-on guide for analyzing, planning, guiding, and establishing small groups in the church. The book is especially valuable for small groups "veterans" who think they've "been there, done that" and have subsequently decided that this aspect of Christian ministry is better relegated to their members who are either emotionally dependent or fad followers. It suggests that such veteran leaders would be wise to reconsider the possibilities of small groups ministry, while also making it possible for "rookie" leaders to start a small group ministry right the first time.
