Back on the Rack of Luuuurve!,

Georgia's back and in fine form once more! Having given the Italian Stallion an ultimatum, Georgia must suffer indignities and cakeshop agonies while pining away about being just his "mate". Having pals who are happily paired off makes things even more difficult, not to mention the continuing embarrassment of Mutti and Vati and Bibbs. Add into the mix the true heroes of the book, Angus and Gordy, who are always good for a laugh. And speaking of laughs, Dave the Laugh is back with his soulful eyes and charming banter and what's a girl to do?
Once again, I found myself literally in tears over Georgia and her escapades. Rennison has captured the desperation of love, the self-absorbed worry of teen life, and the hilariosity of everything and made yet another truly funny book. I hate how fast these books go because then I'm simply waiting for the next one! Furry Shorts leaves us on a MAJOR cliff-hanger that has me waiting with jelloidosity. Highly recommended for lots of laughter and fun!

Laugh-till-you-fall-off-the-bed humor laced with slightly raunchy fun that will keep you reading long into the night!,

Georgia Nicolson is not currently in a happy place regarding her love life. In fact, she's stuck in neutral in more ways than one. According to Georgia, she's not only on the rack of romance, but in the cakeshop of agony, the oven of luuurve, and the bakery of pain. And, if you must know why, it is all because of the Italian Stallion, Masimo. The man who has knocked the Sex God - aka Robbie - right out of her mind, and taken up residence in her heart, as well as in the band the Stiff Dylans, as their new singer. But Georgia has made the mistake of a lifetime. For, when she finally decides to give Masimo an ultimatum - become her one and only or hit the road - he tells her that he needs to think about it. And, we all know that whenever a guy uses the words "I need to think about it," he can't be thinking anything good. Which is why Georgia is on the rack of romance. Now, to distract herself from thinking about Masimo and the fact that he may not call her, or even want to be with her romantically, Georgia has thrown herself headfirst into MacUseless play rehearsals at Stalag 14, and is in the midst of helping Ro-Ro plan a Viking wedding that is scheduled to take place around five years from now. The only problem is that Dave the Laugh is around more than ever - what with MacUseless rehearsals and such, and Georgia is finding herself more and more pre-occupied with kissing him, all because she has been struck by the horn. If only Masimo would just give her the news, she could spend all of her time kissing him - or at least dreaming about kissing him.
Louise Rennison has kept Georgia a lovable, fun-loving character since ANGUS, THONGS, AND FULL-FRONTAL SNOGGING, and that splendiferous character has only gotten more lovable over the years. Now, in her seventh book Georgia is just as enticing as always - if not more - and hilarious to the tenth power. STARTLED BY HIS FURRY SHORTS is a fabulous addition to the Georgia Nicolson series that shows a slightly more mature side of Georgia as she deals with heartbreak, and trying to move on; though her humor - along with that of her somewhat psychotic friends - is still refreshing and invigorating. Laugh-till-you-fall-off-the-bed humor laced with slightly raunchy fun that will keep you reading long into the night! Erika Sorocco Book Review Columnist for The Community Bugle Newspaper

"Who's the Vati?",
By Sis (MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Startled by His Furry Shorts (Confessions of Georgia Nicolson) (Hardcover)
The Georgia Nicolson series has to be my favorite teen series. In this new installment Georgia is once more in the oven of love, this time with Italian Stallion Masimo. She wants be be his official girlfriend- he wants to have fun. On the side, she has confused feelings for Dave the Laugh, and, of course, can never forget Robbie the guitar-plucker.
Georgia and Dave the Laugh get close- but they never really talk about it. Masimo wants to be "her mate". On the side she practices for her MacUseless play, saves some little titches (first formers) from Mark Big Gob, and perfects her viking-horn dance with the ace gang. All in all, one of the best installments, and of course it leaves you hanging with the traditional: The End (for now) ending.

Fab but could be fabbier,

So far, this is one of my least favorite in the series.; having said that, it was still a good book. I just feel that Rennison is slipping because so many of the funny parts in this book were just events/jokes paraphrased from earlier books (ex: setting fire to the pensioner). At this rate the ATAFFS series is going to go stale and I'd hate to see that happen because it truly is spectacular.

I love Georgia and all her silly mates! I was very excited to read this new addition to her escapades. However, I must say I was disappointed by it. I definitely didn't think it was as good as the others. Nothing happened. And I don't mean that in the same way that Georgia's book are composed of a myriad of triviolities. I mean, there were no events and hardly any interaction with the guys (including the hilarious Dave the Laugh). And when something was actually about to happen, the book ended.
The book ended with me thinking, Hmmm...what actually happened here? And I wasn't able to think of anything except an entire book about Georgia ruminating about her love issues (which I enjoy, but it's not as much fun when that's all there is). Of course, I will continue to read and enjoy the series, despite the hideous new covers (and the size is different so they don't match any of the others I have), but please, Ms. Rennison, a little more substance next time.

another gem,
This review is from: Startled by His Furry Shorts (Confessions of Georgia Nicolson) (Library Binding)
This book is just as charming and hilarious as the previous books in the series. This is the only book that literally makes me laugh out loud. I love that the books are just stories about an average teenaged girl and not about issues. This book is a must read for teens and some older people will like it too.

Let's go down the disco!,
By Jenni "jenni35" (Louisville, KY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Startled by His Furry Shorts (Confessions of Georgia Nicolson) (Hardcover)
In this, the seventh book of the Georgia Nicholson series, Georgia finds herself in "the oven of luuurve" once again. At the end of the last book, Then He Ate My Boy Entrancers, Georgia had given the Italian Stallion, a.k.a. Masimo, an ultimatum: to be an exclusive couple.
Throughout this book, Georgia awaits her answer and has to deal with the devastating idea of only being "mates" with Masimo. Will she be able to live if he picks Wet Lindsay over her? And what exactly did Dave the Laugh mean when he said that they were meant for each other? Along the way, Georgia has to put up with her little sister, Libby, who is constantly hiding things in her bed, and her psycho cats, Angus and Gordy, who attack at random. That doesn't even begin to explain the horrors of dealing with school at Stalag 14. Jas, Georgia's "bestest pally", doesn't seem to be very understanding and the rest of the Ace Gang are helping to plan a Viking Wedding for RoRo and Sven, being sure to perfect their new Viking "Let's go down the disco" dance, complete with bison horns. Will Masimo and Georgia end up together? Will she ever snog anyone again? A must-read for fans of the series, this book is laugh out loud funny and, as Georgia would say, "full of hilariosity". *I submitted this book review to be published in the ALAN Review. :) Look for it in the Spring/Summer 2006 Issue.

All about boys.,

This review is from: Startled by His Furry Shorts (Paperback)
The seventh installment in the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series is similar to all the rest. Georgia goes on and on about boys and ...well, mostly just boys. She may be quite literally mad, or possibly just a teenager. Whatevs, she's still completely hilarious and entertaining to read about even though she really doesn't say much on any other topic but boys.

This whole series is hilarious and I can't get enough of it! I wouldn't recommend reading it in public because you will be laughing out loud. I generally don't do that either while reading but these books are just so funny.
