Very entertaining transference of personalities,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Startrek: Spock Vs Q: The Sequel (Star Trek) (Star Trek (Unnumbered Audio)) (Audio Cassette)
In their previous duel of wits, Spock was able to best Q and now they are about to engage in a second round. However, as they are about to begin, there is an enormous surge of power and they suddenly find themselves in an unknown location. The situation is further complicated when Spock begins to take on the personality traits of Q and Q those of Spock. Since Q is robbed of his powers, and Spock does not know how to use them, there is nothing either of them can do to save themselves. The personality transfer is very well played by Leonard Nimoy and John deLancie. The sound of Spock giggling and uttering Q-like witticisms was very entertaining. The dampening of the Q personality by applying overtones of the Spock persona was also very funny. Jokes fly back and forth between them as they continue their verbal sparring, although now their personalities are blended with the opposite dominant in the other's body. Of course, in the end, the situation is resolved and they save themselves. Fun to listen to, this tape is an aspect of Star Trek that is just good, clean entertainment. I enjoyed it so much I listened to it twice.

YAYYY Q!,

This review is from: Spock Vs Q: The Sequel (Star Trek (Unnumbered Audio)) (Audio CD)
The beginning and the end of this one were absolutely hilarious (my personal favorite:Spock- "Greetings. I am Spock." Q- "Are you sure?" ) It is definitely well worth your time to buy this, and I thought it was almost as good as it's predecessor. However, there were some parts in the middle that were just too silly to work well. Spock acting like a Q didn't really work for me. In spite of that minor flaw, it was overall an excellent cd.

This was as good as or better than the first one. It was surprising and very enjoyable to hear the personality trade between the two. Spock doing all the singing and laughing like Q. John de Lancie wasn't too highly convincing playing a logical minded Spock, but who cares. He's one person who cannot downplay his personality too much. Highly enjoyable and hopefully there will be a third one.

Spock and Q as you've never heard them before!,
This review is from: Startrek: Spock Vs Q: The Sequel (Star Trek) (Star Trek (Unnumbered Audio)) (Audio Cassette)
The original was so popular, that Alien Voices made a sequel. It¡¯s another rematch between the great Spock of Vulcan, and Q from the Continuum. But this is Spock and Q as we¡¯ve never seen them before. Mysteriously transported onto an asteroid headed for Earth, and undergoing a very weird personality swap, the unlikely duo have to stop their verbal joust long enough to figure out how to get back to safety. We also discover that the Q are not the most powerful entities out there, but it would spoil everything to tell you who. If you think you¡¯ve seen Spock acting strangely in Star Trek before, well this is far, far stranger. This could possibly be the last time Leonard Nimoy reprises the role of everyone¡¯s favourite Vulcan (although you never know), and so it¡¯s fitting that he goes out in style - with some new character development. Likewise John de Lancie and Q. We may never see or hear Q again, but he too takes new steps. And what better way to learn new things about yourself than to be with (and even become) your opposite? The humour is fast and well-paced in The Sequel, one that every fan of the series will enjoy.

Q: A shiny one man band!,

This omnipotent trickster is absolutely hilarious. An hour filled with wit and humour. Being a huge fan of Q I really enjoyed the battle of wits with the ever logical Spock. However, I believe even the non Q-Adherent will be amused. By the way, De Lancie gives a convincing presentation of social issues plaguing society and Nimoy give a stoic contrast which elevates the entire experince to an omnipotent leve. Its Great! Listening to the CD was Great!

I know the sequal hasn't come out yet, but I was one of the fortunate people that got to see this performed live in Kansas City. It was absolutely wonderful. I don't know if both acts will be on the CD, or just the 2nd, but it should be good either way - when they switch bodies, it's just great. I highly recommend it to any Star Trek fan, or anyone who enjoys any of their other works.

Spock Vs Q CdStar Trek: The Spock vs. Q Collection (Gift Set) These presentations are sure to please all fans of the star trek series. The confrontations between Spock and Q manage to skillfully integrate philosophical debate with slapstick comedy in a wonderfully entertaining combination. The irascible Q juxtaposed with hyper-rational Spock makes for a mixture that truly exemplifies the priniciple of 'infinite diversity in infinite combinations.' I highly recommend these CD sets.

I loved this CD! Basically the only thing that made it 4 *'s, is that Spock laughed too much, but other than that, the story was very good.
