I've been conteplating the idea of starting my own business...being my own boss. After reading this book I'm pumped up and READY TO GO! It was especially inspiring to hear about other entrepreneurs who are out there and doing it. There are tons of quick little lessons and real-world ideas that I can put into place for my business idea. If you're thinking about starting a business, but you haven't done anything about it - GET THIS BOOK! And the best part, it's such a fun and interesting read that I couldn't put it down...I finished it in one weekend!

I am an information-overload type of person....you better catch me quick or you'll lose me. I read this book cover to cover. Lots of practical, real world examples. Also found a lot of info on their web site, www.startupnation.com. Thanks for the invaluable advice!

Phenomenal read. This is not a typical 'how to' business book. It is not only resourceful, but entertaining and relatable. This book forces you to look at the many different aspects of life that have to be in order to ensure success. `Open for Business' captured my attention immediately. When I was done reading it my first thought was: the only reason why this book would not inspire an entrepreneur is because they are dead!

--- Now if that isn't motivating, I don't know what is! I look forward to the day that I walk through the doors of my own business.

StartupNation is a great book for anyone who ever thought about starting a business but didn't know where to start or lacked faith in themselves. The Sloan brothers provide you with basic steps to get to where you want to be in life; your business plan just falls into your life plan.

They detail different types of businesses, ie. franchise, e-bay, startup, etc. And they tell you strategies for each one with tips along the way.

The book is designed beautifully and never gets boring. Occasionally there are "fast facts" relating to the section you are reading. There are also a lot of quick tip boxes in the margins to break up the monotony of reading straight down the page, left to right the whole way. I never got bored because of this and because the Sloan Brothers used interesting examples of how others started there businesses.

Its true that this is a great motivational book, but you truly must possess the desire to start your own business. If you want to start one, or are considering starting one, I highly recommend this book.

If you have an idea or invention and want to work for yourself, this is the book for you. Full of fabulous advice, tips and personal stories from entrepreneurial experts Jeff and Rich Sloan, "StartupNation" has everything you need to get started. Thanks Jeff and Rich!

I've been an entrepreneur for the past 20 years and I couldn't agree more with the Sloan brothers' mantra of planning your life first & then you can plan your dream business. I still assess my life annually so that I can have the confidence to continue with my business or make changes as my life situation changes. So chapter 3 is my favorite. It's also really inspiring to read the stories of the 5 Super Startups. Way to go brothers Sloan - now I know what to get all the fathers I know for Father's Day!

What the Sloan brothers do best is create a spirit of possibility. No pipe dream fodder here, but rather practical, inspirational and relevent information and advice. I especially like how life planning is encouraged in order to find a good fit for budding entrepreneurs. Reading the book has allowed me to really zone in on what I want out of my life and my career.

I just graduated from college and have been toying with the idea of turning my jewelry making hobby into a business. But with no training in business i had a lot of unanswered questions. I tried this book on a whim and was so pleased to find a resource that answered my questions in a way that i could understand. They broke things down and made the daunting tasks managable and approachable. I was so inspired that I've decided to give my business a try! I would reccomend this book to anyone thinking of starting a business but doesn't know where to start. You'll find it to be a refreshing departure from the typical, boring business books lining the shelves.

This was a really good book, an easy read. It does a great job outlining how to get yourself prioritized if you're ready to jump off the high dive into the world of owning your own business.

Other than that, they leave it up to you to make that final step off the diving board but with lots of support! I especially loved the web site that is a huge reference to the book. Lots of real personal stories of success and tips.

I was introduced to Startup Nation via the Microsoft Small Business site.
Incorporated in the site was an extract, which I downloaded,of the Sloan brothers new book. Once I read the extract I was hooked.

The Sloan brothers refreshingly simple view point in relation to e-commerce made a novice feel that anything could be achieved. Their advice - excellent!! I recommend that anyone starting an online business buy this book. It's worth every dollar or pound.
