Product Description

1 lb of Fuller's Earth Powder, packaged in a resealable mylar bag. Fuller's Earth Clay is a calcium-based clay that is fine, off-white, and highly absorbent. This natural mineral is extracted from the earth and was used as an important ingredient in a concoction used by wool textile workers to remove the oil from sheep's wool. It is absorbent enough to soak up auto oil and is also often used in kitty litter. Fuller's Earth is finer than other clays. Due to its absorbent properties, Fuller's Earth is used as a base in facial skin applications geared towards oily and acne-prone skin.

I bought this sort of as an expirement...I am trying to switch to all natural products and had read about Fuller's Healing Earth in a book. So I figured, why not! I mixed the powder with water and used as a face mask, leaving on about 30 minutes. After washing it off, my face appeared a little red (not sure if it was because I had scrubbed my face too hard or if it was a mild burn) which had cleared up within the hour. I followed it with a little lotion with tea tree oil and went to sleep. The next morning...Viola! My face was clearer and fresher looking even to the point of a couple of people mentioning it. Certainly like it and look forward to using it again.

Some time ago, my wife and I discovered an empty bag of microwave-popped pop-corn makes an ideal fireplace fire-starter because of the combustible paper and flammable oil remaining in the bag. One day, clumsy-me managed to splatter and drip some of the oil from a freshly-popped bag on an otherwise pristine surface of the flagstone hearth of our fireplace. [Arghh] That is when we made another discovery; how to clean oil stains from flagstone using a poultice of Fuller's Earth.

Fuller's WHAT?!?! Yes, I know, not a common term, nor are its uses well known, so, a mini-primmer is in order:

Fuller's Earth is a naturally-occurring substance (a feldspar derivative) that has a substantial ability to adsorb impurities or coloring bodies from fats, grease, or oils. Its name originated within the textile industry, where this type of finely-powdered earth substance was used in the cleaning of cloth. The procedure allowed fibers to separate, giving fabric a less compressed and more fuller look. The person who performed this procedure was known as a "Fuller." Hence the term derived for the applied substance became "Fuller's Earth." The first use of what we now call Fuller's Earth, dates back to prehistoric times when our knuckle-dragging ancestors used the stuff to clean their animal-hide clothing. If you are a baby-boomer, chances are you had your bare bottom dusted with the stuff to reduce/eliminate diaper rash. If you have an indoor cat, the stuff is probably in your kitty's litter-box. And there is a good chance you will find it in the cleanup substance sprinkled on car-repair shop floors. Its properties can even be found in your underarm deodorant. And, last but not least, it can be used as a stain remover on leather, carpets, clothing, furniture, wood floors and--Tah-DAHH!--stone.

I have been using this for the last 3 years. It is a great product for acne skin. I mix mine with water and green tea extract. I leave it on until it drys and then I put aloe vera gel on my face after. I always put it on at night before I go to sleep because the body regenerates itself during sleep and I wake up to clearer skin.
