This review is from: State of Bliss (Audio CD)
Tired of croaky pop or boom voices that overkill songs & seem to have no awareness of lyrics whatsoever? Well, here's a anecdote.
Courtenay Day's second album (her first a delightful live one), shows a singer with a rich voice a bit like the softer side of Bernadette Peters, or Sandy Duncan with more depth, and effective & solid accompaniment from Christopher Marlowe on piano. I especially like the second half of the album, with some of the
most touching, fun & lovely versions of songs like "Something Cool," "So Many Stars," the moving "I'm Becoming My Mother" & Porter's "Everytime We Say Goodbye." A real intelligent delight.
