Hilarious Piece of Propoganda, July 27, 2008
This review is from: State Department File 649 (DVD)
This is an old movie - 1949. And not a particularly good movie either. It felt like more of a propaganda piece than a real movie. The overriding message was: State Department officers bravely serve America abroad. The acting was terrible and the storyline thin and predictable. It was good for some laughs at how outrageous it was though.
Also, if it was an accurate portrayal of Foreign Service Officers back in 1949, it is not now. They don't carry guns and they don't single handedly take on Mongolian warlords. Anyway, an interesting movie and fun piece of history if not cinematic excellence.

Not A Bad Film, January 23, 2012
This review is from: State Department File 649 (DVD)
Pretty good thriller.Agents Kenny Seeley(William Lundigan)and Margaret Weldon(Virginia Bruce)are sent to Mongolia on a top secret project to stop the spread of Communism in the East.
Their enemies are Col Aram(Philip Ahn)and warlord Marshall Yun Usu(Richard Loo)
Its up to the two agents to convince or kill them.
William Lundigan(Dodge City,Sea Hawk,Song Of The South)is especially good,as an all American, who will do anything for his country.
Richard Loo(God Is My Copilot,China Sky,The Purple Heart)is,as usual the villian.
Not a real bad film.I enjoyed it very much.
