5.0 out of 5 stars State Of Disgrace, November 1, 2006

This review is from: State of Disgrace (Audio CD)
I saw these guys open up for Breaking Benjamin and Godsmack on Halloween night. They were great. They even wore Halloween costumes on stage. I bought their debut album at the show for only 10 bucks. It's a great CD. They remind me of harder version of Submersed. Their single "Freeze" is an awesome song. I also really like "Uhaul", "God Failed", and "This Life", I'd say those are my favorites. Anyway, check this band out (live if you can)!

this was a really good cd. the lyrics are very....sad i guess would be the word to describe it. but thats not saying it's bad. i suppose if your in a downer sort of mood then this would be a good cd to listen to. either way i love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh take on the alternative scene., May 11, 2008
This review is from: State of Disgrace (Audio CD)
This offering from Hourcast may at first seem like your run of the mill alternative offering, but a few minutes into the opening track of "This Life" will change your mind.Tempo changes are a plenty, and lead singer Patrick McBride makes it all work with everything from high controlled power to melodious harmonies. This CD may not be the most lyrically thought provoking, but it does have its moments. The music and melodies more than make up for it, with my personal favorite song being " Lunar".Some of you made have already heard this band without even realizing it, as they have a song on the "Saw 3" soundtrack called " Sakkara".Overall this CD has more ups than downs and rocks pretty well from start to finish.I gave this a four star instead of five because, although a few songs have really great lyrics, the majority are fairly basic. If pondering on taking a chance with this CD it would be money well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars (4.7 stars) GREAT HEADBANGING ROCK!, November 30, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: State of Disgrace (Audio CD)
This was an impressive album from a new artist, I went to 3 stores just to get this CD, but finally got it. Songs "Sakkara", "God Failed", "Numb", and "Stillwater" are my favorite tracks! "Stillwater" had great guitaworks, "God Failed" was a heavy, with a little bit of screaming around the ending, and great chorus. "Numb" sounded awesome, sounded kinda creepy when you first listen to this. And "Sakkara" had an awesome chorus, there was a gong at the beginning. In "Freeze", Patrick had a beautiful voice when he sang the chorus. Songs "Almost Like Life" and "Memories And Lies" were the sofest tracks in this album. Not saying they were bad. People kept saying that Hourcast is heavy metal, but they sound more like hard-rock. More people should try to listen to this band. But "God Failed" is the best track in this album. It's impressive the fact that Hourcast wants to get instrumental, usually a piano. GET THIS ALBUM!! YOU'LL LOVE IT!!

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING CD!!!, November 10, 2006
This review is from: State of Disgrace (Audio CD)
These guys are a great new band on the uprise, comin outta Boston. Their unique style of mixing metal, electronica, and industrial is a unique sound and they pull it off well. They heavy hitting guitars come in songs such as "God Failed" to the slow melody riffs of songs like "Memories and Lies" Overall an amazing debut CD and not to mention their lead singer is one of the nicest guys ever. I met him at one of the shows, nice down to earth guy, great freakin band!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Debut Album, October 29, 2006
This review is from: State of Disgrace (Audio CD)
This band is a breath of fresh air to the hard rock world. Give them some time and they could be a real force in the industry. They mix some industrial elements in with their basic hard rock sound and it is very different sounding. I think this is a very bold band and if they stay on this track they are on now, they will be somebody someday. My favorite tracks are #'s 1,4,8,and 9. Check these guys out if you love good hard rock with some suprises.

5.0 out of 5 stars like Tool on steroids, February 14, 2007
This review is from: State of Disgrace (Audio CD)
The Good
Soft piano gives way to chunky riffs on "This Life." Slight electronic effects accent the background, while Patrick McBride delivers a raw yet melodic vocal. "Sakkara" relies a lot more on effects as the vocals are more haunting and subdued. The chorus focuses a lot on melody. An in-your-face wall of distortion cuts away briefly for the angry vocals of "God Failed." McBride really shines vocally on the down-tempo track "Lunar." Echoed vocals, monster riffage, and accenting effects dominate "Smash Up." "Numb" is a twisted journey into the mind of a tortured soul. All of McBride's frustration is eventually released. "Stillwater" is more of a straight-up modern rock song with some traces of progressive elements.

The Bad
Nothing notable

The Verdict
Hourcast are like Tool on steroids. Run! Don't walk to check out this one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Solid Debut, October 24, 2006
This review is from: State of Disgrace (Audio CD)
With bands like 10 Years, Flyleaf and Evans Blue coming out of nowhere and hitting it big this past year, it's now possible for even the smallest, low-budget band to make it big. Hourcast seem to be up for the challenge. With a debut CD that holds it's own and doesn't sound like anyone else (save for some trace influences of A Perfect Circle and Sevendust), the four guys from Boston are likely to please any rock fan looking for something a little left of center.

Sounds Like: Hard-rock with class.

The Good:
- Considering it's their debut, they sound pretty damn professional.
- The songs take unpredictable twists and turns.

The Bad:
- To be honest, the album can get boring if listened to front to back.

Future: "State Of Disgrace," despite being an indie release, could be the band's ticket to bigger and better things. The sound is different but still accessible.

Personally: I saw these guys open up for Godsmack recently, and although they weren't the most exciting part of the night, they held their own rather well and sounded tight. There are songs on "State Of Disgrace" that will stick to the top of your brain, and a few that slip under the radar. But overall, it's a damn fine first album.

Best Listened To When: You want a rock band who changes things up a bit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Industrial Gods debut, August 13, 2006
This review is from: State of Disgrace (Audio CD)
Mixing a primal mix of Industrial, hard rock, metal, and punk, similiar to Opiate for the masses, Hourcast are an awesome band. Songs of abandonment, hurt, pain, and other topics are all on display here. An awesome debut cd, and a must for any fan of music who feels like the world is against them.

I saw these guys open for 30 Seconds to Mars in Albuquerque and these guys were awesome. I wasn't expecting much from the first opening band, but these guys suprised me. They got the crowd going and all their songs rocked that they played.

I downloaded some of their songs from the CD and they have alot of depth...kind of like A Perfect Circle. If you want to hear a good new band that isn't on MTV or the radio, pick up this CD and go see them in concert
